Should anything be done about the stray dogs in Bonaire?

The animal shelter on Bonaire is continually working to aid the poor lost and stray animals of Bonaire. A donation from you to the Animal Shelter would be a great way to help.

Don't get me going. I am a stray magnet. I have found several litters of abandoned puppies. There is a sweet mother dog in town (tall pointy ears) that seems to find me whereever I go. I told LVV about her (the dog catcher). He is a very compassionate man as I can tell and tries to place all adoptable dogs at the shelter. The people at the shelter are WONDERFUL and there is a human society developing. This island is much better than most Caribbean islands. What makes me crazy are the people that have fences but chain their dogs 24.7 in the yard. What a terrible life.

Ann, Have you seen the puppy in this week's Bonaire Reporter? I really wish I could adopt her, she is adorable, I absolutely feel in love with her just seeing her pic! :-) I hope LVV find that dog for you and gives it a good home. We have folks here in the states too that chain their dogs 24/7 and it really irkes me too.

Steve, yes, something should be done, those strays should be adopted by people that will love them, provide for them and have them spayed or neutered.

Ann, sounds like you are already "going";-{)}

Check out http://www.bonaireanimalshelter.org/ for information about the Shelter and ways you can help.

There was a Bonaire Animal Sterilization Program during October 18-30, 2004 where over 200 dogs were sterilized with the major help of over 20 volunteers including vets from Canada, the U.S. and Holland.
