Hey Sue, curious minds want to know..what do you use to call? That amount of calling on my MCI would have cost about 25.00 USD. I now use Skype to call the US or if I am in the US, to call BON.

Curious minds here too. I used MCI to fax a one page fax to Eden Beach, it took 2 minutes and cost me $9.00. I even set the fax machine (in my computer) to send around midnight so I would have the lower rate. If there is a less expensive carrier for international calls, I would love to know about it.

Jeanine, when I was living in the US, I tried ALL kinds of service..The virtual phone cards were the cheapest bet. Then I learned of www.skype.com. In Bonaire most of us uses Skype. Some also use VOIP's.

Ask your long distance provider to put you on an International Calling Plan. MCI (or whatever they call themselves now) as well as AT&T/SBC have something where you pay $2-3/month and that drops your cost of calls to the Neth. Antilles from outrageous to about $0.35/minute. Call your long distance provider about it (the plan also reduces your rates to other countries too).

Keep in mind calling a cell phone is more money than calling a land line...

?w??B?ave Skype as I am still on dial up (rural VT is behind Bonaire!) but have a friend who sells me very cheap international phone cards. I get about 58 minutes for $4.50. Am looking forward to moving soon where I will be able to have Skype!

I had a very bad connection (Colorado to Bonaire) last week using an MCI phonecard; I could barely hear the other party and had to ask them to repeat themselves throughout the entire conversation. Ah, well!

A very small blurb in our local paper (San Jose Mercury News) :Skype has stopped charging customers for dialing up people on traditional landline and mobile phones. It will offer it's SkypeOut service for free until the end of the year.
