My wife and I are coming to Bonaire in June and have been asking questions to the person at the dive shop where we will be diving from. She has been very helpful and we would like to bring her a carepackage from the states for all her help. What type of items are hard to get for local citizens that we can bring from the states? (i.e. chocolate, candy, cookies etc.) Also, are there any local regulations on items that you are not permitted to bring to the island?

There are no real restrictions on the items you can bring as gifts. Although I believe things like ciggarettes and alcohol are "personal consumption' amounts.

When we bring presents down it seems that products from the Body Shop go over very well...

Whatever you bring will be appreciated. It's the thought that goes a long way!

I always take down small Walmart toys for the local kids and have fun handing them out. Little plastic animals and cars are always popular. All the bigger kids like fancy pencils.
