Is it me or is the traffic building in Bonaire? I could not find a place to park in town today..and then leaving I found the traffic around 12 to be horrendous...cars are abound..too many...I think...

It is not you, Ann. I thought there are more cars, trucks and motorcycles on the island than it was 2 years ago. May be the traffic will be less crowded in the low season.

I hear you Annie..I noticed a huge increase in traffic (2/1-3/15) compared to 2005. Noon time almost reminded me of rush hour back here at home. Everyone who is off for the 1-2hour break are doing errnads, running home, etc. The parking downtrown was awfull. The only day you could get a spot in one of the lots is Sunday. Maybe the businesses located in downtown might think about having their employees park near the stadium. This would free up parking for those who need to run errands & spend a little $$.

Yup, Ann --- we also thought the traffic had really increased. Not just downtown, and with parking, but it seemed that everywhere we were there were just LOTS more vehicles. A sign of prosperity??

If they keep off loading those car carriers and dont build any more roads or parking spaces.....

Many other islands have had to address this but it is a real political hot potatoe.

I remember having to take all my dive gear to the dock on the back of a scooter on Bermuda!!

There is a solution to the traffic problem on Bonaire, PARKING METTERS $1.00 per hr. from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM along Kaya Grandi. But free for rental cars (tourist). Shop employees park at the sports field, 3 min walk.
Here in Boston we just dug the hell out of the city, spent billions, and guess what, we still have the same traffic problems, but they are hidden underground.

NO NO NO parking meters in Bonaire ! how about YOU park at the stadium and walk...we can all use the excercise! I would hate to see any traffic lights or parking meters enter that quaint shopping area

Come on, parking free for tourist????
This must be a delayed 1st of April joke!

I suggest:parking free for locals, and double fee for tourists....
