Immigration now has a check off sheet listing all the docs. They look at your file and check off what you need to bring with you to the governor's office.

This last renewal I only had to renew my resident permit because I'm a managing director of a local company. This was a first.
- photocopy of passport
- proof of medical insurance
- proof of financial security
- copy of last year's permit
- new Bevolking document

When it was ready for pickup, all I needed was a passport photo for the new permit.

If you need a work permit to be renewed, I believe your company has to go to DEZE for you.

Hey Ann-
Went through the process in 2003, so you'll have to check if these are the most current rules and regs.

For a sedula, as far as I recall, you'll need:

*A recent (30 days or less) letter from your local police relaying the message that you're an upstanding citizen and not wanted on criminal or other charges.

*A recent (see above)letter from an accredited doctor specifying you to be "healthy," along with recent proof of your reception of Hepatitus vaccines, and also a recent blood test proving you to be HIV negative.

*An original birth certificate, along with an original apostille of your birth certificate.

*If you are married, an original marriage certificate along with an apostille of that marriage certificate. If you are not married, you need a notarized letter from a pastor or lawyer stating that your are indeed single and not abandoning a spouse.

*(All apostilles must be garnered from the state/country where they originated.)

*A recent bank statement showing you have funds to support yourself while on Bonaire. (We were told we needed proof of 14k in NAf in when we went through the process in 2003. May be different now...)

*A valid passport.

*Copies of recent passport photos. (We took 4 each and they all got used at some point...)

*Not sure if this is still the case, but we were told we could not remain on the island "while the immigration process was taking place." Once we got word that we had been given the go ahead, then we could come back.

I think that's all, but...

Perhaps I'm forgetting something, it has been so long, but that's what we went through. Don't be surprised if you have to "go into immigration several times." Although we had our ducks in a row, the process was slow but worth it.

I don't know the process at all for a work permit.
Hope these were helpful bits of info.

While I'm not quite ready to move to Bonaire, I am curious what constitutes "Proof of Financial Security".
