A quick question. What types of electrical sockets are used on Bonaire. Are they the same as the US of are they the same as European.

Thanks

Neil

110 volt are US style,220 volt are European. To be on the safe side, bring a 2 prong adapter for the US 110 volt outlets. Some are 2 prong instead of three.

An addition:

Sometimes you'll find 220V American style sockets, especially for the 220V- AC-units (outside the buildings), but mostly the 220V is, indeed, European style, (nearly always 3-sprong, including earth). Adapters from US-style to Euro-style (vv) are available at Playa-Trading.
The 110V-sockets are the majority, sometimes 2, sometimes 3-sprong. (Adapters are also available at Playa-Trading, amongst others). 110V-European-style doesn't exist.

Sometimes it is not important whether it is 110 V or 220V, because the power on the sockets is equal: 0 V.

Welcome to Bonaire!

Advice: bring a good battery-operated electric torch....
Batteries AA-type are common available. The other sizes ,(A, C, D, 9V-block) mostly.
AAA is difficult.

aaa are readily available. Its just that they sell out quickly since most TV remotes use them..Also 2032, 2016 dive comouter and watch batteries as well as all the cr series battereies from Duracell are in stock at most stores near resorts, photo shops and souvenirs stores. Prices are about the same as US for name brands

And, of course, Bonaire 'US' voltage is a nominal 127 vac, 50 Hz with variations. Higher voltage near the WEB plant in Hato and perhaps lower in Belnem and Sorobon. I have measured 138 vac a number of times near Voz di Bonaire.
