OK, this is a strange question.

I'm working on jewelry inventory for the holidays, and would like to do a bit of that during some of my downtime while in Bonaire. But, as a part of the process, I use a small butane torch.

I KNOW I can't take butane on the airplane. Are the small refills available anywhere on the island?

Thanks!

Whirlwind

Peggy, I live on Bonaire, and the eternal shopping problem with ANY item is that it might be available--you see it in a store--and then later it's not there.
When stores run out of an item, they often seem not to reorder it, or they order it many months later, or they had it to begin with by accident.
So, if somebody else responds that you can buy it in a particular store, you cannot, alas, count on what you want actually being in that store while you are here.
Sorry to discourage you, but if I were you I would just enjoy all the kinds of activities available on Bonaire and leave your torch and other work at home.
Have a good vacation!
Tish

If you really want to be sure: Ship your supply ahead of time, via ground to Amcar, and import it that way via Rocargo on Bonaire (there's no shipping between Christmas & New Year's though).

Thanks for the info. It's really not worth that much trouble, I just thought it "might" be available (but no need to bring the other supplies if it isn't).

I'll find something else to do with my "quiet time." Lots of good books I haven't had time to read....

The "Eastern" store kitty corner from RBTT bank has Butane fill kits. I have also seen them at Kooyman.

Liz, I think Peggy is talking about the little lighter sized ones for a small torch, that you use to fill up the torch, like you would use to fill up a butane lighter, but I could be wrong. Peggy?

SEB, you're right. For a very small hand held torch.

Thanks.

Peggy, maybe you can sweet talk somebody who uses those things to put aside one for you. Liz, do you get yours at Tung Fong?

Mike at Chat N Browse also has them.

See, a little patience and the upbeat responses drown out the negativity. You can contact Mike directly at chat and browse and he might put one or two aside for you. My guess is he has them to complement his cigar sales.

Peggy, nobody really uses the user names, but if you want to be called Whirlwind, we can do that. But we definitely need a profile picture to match! I'm thinking a diaphanous swirling gown, ala Ginger Rogers.
Of course, Whirlwind happens to be the name of my pinball machine, so I will try not to punch any of your buttons.

Peggy.. aka Whirlwhind.. I agree with Seb. You should do what YOU want to do on vacation !! If making jewelry makes you happy and relaxes you, then find your torch, sister ! :-)

Have a great time... I know you will...

Seb: LOL, I've just gotten in the habit of using Whirlwind over the years. Calling me Peggy is just fine with me.

Now, how do I get a pic on my profile?

Peggy

Hi Seb--Tish & I were being realistic, and even though others have found this product, just because it's here now is absolutely no guarantee it'll be here later (unless Mike does save some for her). For example, it's cold & flu season now--I'm down to my last box of Kleenex. Saturday, went thru the usual grocery shopping routine: More for Less, Cultimara and Tropical Flamingo--NOT ONE BOX OF TISSUES LEFT at any of those stores. There's probably a $5 box at Botica Bonaire, which is my next and last stop because it's next to my office (and maybe those other stores have re-stocked their shelves by now...I just don't feel like searching more). You just never know-that's island life.

Ruth, that's the "charm" of island life. :-)

A run on tissues... who would've thought? Do you need some brought down? I can get the fabulous Kleenex ones with lotion in them.. lol. ;)

As charming as rolls of TP on your night-table and desk... it's just too bizarre sometimes!
;-)

Thanks for offer Kelly, but I'll stock up on tissues in Curacao later this week....now, if anyone sees Crystal Light's new Ruby Red (Grapefruit) "Sunrise" mix, that's another story.

Nice visual, Ruth! LOL !

I'll keep an eye out for the Crystal Light. I hadn't heard of that yet, but I LOVE ruby red grapefruit. And with a splash of vodka... wow... nirvana. But I digress. :-)

Ruth, I certainly understand the vagaries of shopping in Bonaire. But I also think a little optimistic stick to-itiveness and preplanning can work wonders.

You should have seen me the day in Rome when I stood on the sidewalk and refused to go anywhere until Mare went back in the spectacle shop and bought the black with white spots sunglasses. She looked like a movie star in them.
