I just finished a search for wash and fold services on the island and came up with Caribbean Laundry by the stadium. The latest post seemed to be from about March of this year and I was wondering if there has been any change and also what are the hours? Seventeen days and counting!

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff, when we are on Bonaire for an extended time we use Caribbean laundry to do our own laundry in their self serve machines. A wash (at least as of last month) was seven guilders. We don't use the driers so do not know the price. I do not know prices for their wash and fold service but I believe it takes at least 24 hours to get your laundry back. Have heard some stories from local residents that you may not always get everything back (don't we all have that black hole in our washers where those little items disappear??) They open at 8am but I am not sure of closing time. I have a vague recollection of doing laundry there on a Sunday a year ago but am not really sure! I do know they are open Monday through Saturday though! The ladies who work there are very friendly and helpful. Also, if doing your own laundry do not expect a choice of water temps as the machines run on only warm!

Hey neighbor, thanks for the info. I am packing light this trip, so my roommate and neighbors will probably appreciate my visiting the laundry. Either that, or I could just fill up a tub and beat my clothes on a rock;-{)}

Susan,

Though I haven't been there lately, and I can check this out, you must have done your laundry, late morning or evening. I don't think they have "hot water" at the laundry. It then depends on what time of day you go as to the water temperature. Early morning tepid to cool (depending on time of year), late morning warm early to late afternoon, very warm, evening, back to tepid to warm. I suggest doing dark clothing during morning and evening hours and whites mid day...heck why waste a day of diving, just leave them to be laundered for you, they have that service too

Jeff, They charge by the kilo if they wash for you and I think it is around a 7 guilders to do each load, then a few more for dryer. If you are going to drop off laundry, be sure to mark your laundry with your name on a tag.

See you on Bonaire soon!

Liz

WOO-HOO!! Just found out we have a washing machine in our townhouse. This is a good thing as it means I will be able to wash my pair of "travel underwear" aka "Slack Savers" at my leisure;-{)}

Tom -- Hearing about your slack savers is a real 511 situation:
411 is information; 511 is too much information.

Tom, you're a real "70's" kinda guy! Cynde, the slacks would be unmentionable without the "slack savers" :-) Since you've all become so fond of the red hot pokers, I'm wondering who will be left to dive with??? Four eye butterflies serving as seeing eye fish???? :-)

To clarify about the "warm" -- I should have said that the machines are set so that the water only comes into the machine if the dial is set to "warm." I have no idea what the actual temp of the water was and really did not care since I take only shorts and t-shirts with me!
