I have been to Bonaire twice, staying once at Buddy Dive and once at Captain Dons.

I plan to go back in December of this year, with a friend who just divorced.

She is very despondant and I have told her of the many nice people on Bonaire. I remember more than a few nice men at those two resorts. Neither of us would do anything improper, but if the circumstances are right we might like to invite company for dinner one night in town (our treat). However, aside from asking outright, how do we tell if men are married and therefore off limits? None wore rings, but that means nothing.

Darla

Being a single male living on Bonaire, I do understand your dilema, however, local men generally don't wear wedding rings and most of the others are with wives or girlfriends. If you do find a likely prospect, just come right out and ask. If they are true gentlemen they will pay for dinner!

I don't know how you men do it! But then, women are probably easier to "read" because most do wear wedding rings if they are married.

So we'll just ask. Maybe we'd have the best luck with somebody from Holland, who might be there working for a short time and maybe isn't attached yet.

What is single life like on Bonaire? Seems like it would be very quiet and not many prospects for lack of a better word.

Oh, and thank you for the response.

Thanks for all of the private emails about this.

If anybody would like to privately suggest a possible person or two for us to look for, to possibly try and meet, please do so using my email.

In response to a couple of questions I got, a local person or someone from Holland, either would be fun to talk to. And we're both early 30's.

Thanks again.

Darla

Darla, you might consider going to slide shows and things like that. I don't even know when/where they are, but someone might jump in and help me out. That's a great place to meet folks. I think you can go to Lac Cai also on Sunday afternoons, the locals go there and listen to music and have a few cold ones. Being friendly will go a long way toward meeting people and making friends.

Dianne, I'd love to go at New Years but have other obligations at that time (trip to see relatives) Will let my local dive club know if you'd like (I'm near Sacramento)
