Just read in the new "Reporter" that medical degree school will be opening in May AND that the "7-7" store is for sale.

Now who has an excuse for not migrating to Bonaire? Maybe us long-suffering (jealous) off-islanders can chip in and buy the 7-7 ?

Living in hope,

Bill

Hey - you guys could make it a Wal-Mart franchise and then there'd be no reason for us to leave the island for shopping trips anymore! :-)

Speaking of Wal-Mart.. we're going to be in Virginia early May for Hugh's Law School Reunion at UVA. We then head to Bonaire end of June.. so if anybody wants something from Wal-Mart, let me know, and I'll try and get it. Sarah

Bill and Cheryl...whats the 7-7 going for? Is it true you can buy and run a business as long as you hire locals?

Meryl,

They didn't mention the price in the Bonaire Reporter article. You could probably find out from a real estate co. on the island like Sunset, or maybe Jake?

As for the "rules". Not at all sure what ownership obligations you have.

Hi wanabee landlords!,

Clip from the Reporter article:

(Rumors abound. "Was it sold?" or "Is it for sale, or isn't it?" We spoke with 7-7 owner-manager Hilda Campman who said, "No it was not sold, but yes, it is for sale, but no one is meeting our price.")

I didn't see it listed on the Sunbelt Commercial listings, so someone else may be handling it or they are doing it privately.

Start cashing in those savings!

Bill

Meryl,

The Antilles are one of the few places where one does not need to have local partners or employees to start a business (or buy one), but both certainly help. However, the business licensing process is a challenge - can't start a business which competes with a locally owned business unless the local powers that be feel the market is large enough. However, anyone can buy an existing business license providing the owner wants to sell it.

Jake
