In paying for a listing for our gallery at the phone company yesterday, the rep for the company which actually sets up the phone book for Telbo happened to mention that the current 2004 Bonaire phone book is viewable and searchable on-line. He gave me a Web site yesterday which I could not get to work then, but did get working just now:

http://www.bonaireyp.com

Nice resource to have considering how stingy Telbo is with phone books (you get one with each phone number and then have to pay for any additional copies you want).

Wow!! This is really exciting! Now, if we can only get the listings under the proper names....

I asked about that - he said you have to work that out with Telbo if you want it done for free, or pay his company (via Telbo) NAF 75 for a new white page listing (which is what we did for the gallery, since it's phone is actually under "Bonaire Artists Foundation"). Note that a name change with Telbo also costs some money (not sure how much - but could be up to NAF 150 if they perceive it to be a transfer to a new customer vs. a simple name "correction".

Jake:

:-) Thanks so much!!! I was looking ALL over the island for a book since we don't have a telbo #yet, we don't have the phone book. I DEFINITELY will be using it. Can we get a number listed if we don't have a local number, just a cell or do I have to wait until I get a local number?

Liz

I suspect that for payment, they would be happy to list a cell phone number, but who knows - check it out and let us know what you find out... :-)

As an alternative to bonaireyp.com, try out www.caribbeanpages.net. It includes a caller ID search.

Check it out...

Michiel,

Your post violates our self promotion policies here on BonaireTalk, but your site is potentially useful (although I keep getting JavaScript errors) for the reverse look-up (although it doesn't see to work for all numbers). To balance out those two conflicting issues, I have edited your message to remove the adverbs and adjectives and simply state the facts.

The JavaScript error occurs in line 82 after a search result is returned, and in line 160 when attempting to click on the arrow to process the search. In both cases you seem to have comment inside a parameter for a JS function.

Also, while the look-up does kind of work for some numbers, it does not for others (ran a bunch of numbers which are in my caller ID log on my phone to test it). I'm gathering that's because you've copied the content out of the Bonaire phone book, which doesn't list all allocated numbers.

Jake,

Thanks for the reply. As this is a 'spare-time' development site I didn't pay to much attention to small details. It's still a work in progress, but it works just fine for now (and it's free without banners). The errors are from rollovers I'm not using yet. And you got me there, it is an exact copy of bonaireyp.com, so if a number isn't in the phonebook, it isn't in my database. I did a 'rip' some time ago because no site offered caller id search.

Let me know if you have some features you would like to be improved or added.

Kind regards,

Michiel

PS. As curcaoyp.com isn't up yet, my site doesn't offer curacao names and numbers as of yet. Aruba works fine though...
