I've done so much research on this, and this board has been an absolute godsend! My predicament is this, we are going to Bonaire in April and my niece is the one who needs to call home. I think renting a cell phone is just too much $ to ask her to spend. I found this calling card called Nobel WORLDWIDE (here's the link:

http://www.nobelcom.com/nobelcom/jsp/productselection/productdetails.jsp?cardid=4013&from_country=102&to_country=1)

which seems to be a pretty good rate (56.9 cents a minute). Has anyone ever used this? Or, is it better to just have her buy a phone card while in Bonaire? She just wants to call her Mom a few times while she's there. Thanks in advance!

I was not able to use my prepaid card on Bonaire either were two of my traveling companions, so make sure that the one you purchase will work. If others have cards that are able to I am sure they will post.

Michael at the Chat and Browse has good deals on rentals. One of my friends got a cell with 50 minutes of time on it for I believe $40.00 total.

I am sure there are other companies with similar rates.

So whatever you do, don't use the blue phones. US$40 for a single call is the minimum charge to the US.

I don't think Nobel will work. The search at the bottom does not have Netherlands Antilles listed in the CALL FROM menu. It is only in the the Call To list.

Linda, FYI, the Netherlands is listed in the Call From dropdown, that's how that phone card came up. Do you see it?

Wendy,

The Netherlands are listed but that refers only to Holland. The Netherlands Antilles are always (to use an 'absolute' word) listed separately in this sort of case. The telephone routing is direct to the NA, not through the Netherlands proper, and vice versa.

Have you considered an AT&T direct dial arrangement. I believe my calling card allows Bonaire (my daughter has it away from here right now, at least it did on previous trips.

An email direct to Michael Gaynor of Chat n' Browse might be your best source of information on availability and rates,
not only Chat n' Browse services but overall.
