Since 2 days the Dutch-language Curaçao-based newspaper AMIGOE has a website in English where they translate a few of the articles about the Dutch Antilles and Aruba.
The AMIGOE is not known for abundant information about Bonaire but it is a start.

Thanks for the heads up....the article re Plaza is chilling. I read it in Extra in more depth, but it was right on the money.

Michael,

I have been following the "economics" of Bonaire and the Caribbean, in considerable depth for some time now. Mostly BNA, UNeclac ( http://www.eclac.org/ ) , IMF and Bonaire Reporter reports. (Part of a long-term immigration plan!!)

Despite the tourism industry and the salt and oil it is apparent that the existence of Bonaire is maintained via economic transfer from the mother ship. If that plug is ever pulled times will really get rough. Most locations faced with this problem are always trying to develop a "plan B" for survival. Anything going on amongst the movers & shakers of Bonaire. (I'm assuming that you are one!!)

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks for the compliment re "mover, etc." Basically I am in a position to offer advice and opinions to the right ears. There have been some changes re the Dept of Economicss (deza) and I have been involoved in some potential PR, etc. It really boils down to setting a few priororities and lots of follow through. Bonaire is in an excellent position (geograpicaly) to capitalize on an eventual upturn in the US and European markets and being able to offer a safe and stable haven for potential investors. Our infrastructure is still in its infancy which allows us to crawl before we walk, etc. Plan B,C, and D are on the drawing boards.
