In case any of you are heading down our way to Bonaire, you are invited to pick-up the trash. On Saturday, September 16th, the whole island of Bonaire will be getting outdoors and picking up trash. You can find out more from your hotel, dive shop, etc. on what they are planning for the big cleanup day. Efforts are on land, at the shore and underwater so one and all can join in. Below is just one of the groups working on a cleanup effort.

"Green Submarine & NetTech, as part of their on-going monthly clean-up dives, are planning, in support of both the Tene Boneiru Limpi (Keep Bonaire Clean) Annual Island Clean-Up and the International Coastal Clean-up, on doing a clean-up of the waters around the Town Pier on Saturday, Sept. 16th, at 10am.

We invite all of you to join us, as well as any of your friends who want to do an interesting dive! Free tanks will be provided for the dive(s), as well as drinks and snacks before, during, and after the dive, right at the pier.

Any divers wanting to join us need to RSVP to make sure we bring enough tanks and drinks/snacks. RSVPs should be made to: e-mail: mailto:cleanup@BonaireDiving.com or Phone: 717-2929 (Green Submarine), and please be at the pier by 10am on that Saturday so that we can get right in the water.

Please be sure to bring any spare mesh bags you might have, along with your gear, and if you've not dived with Green Submarine before, bring your C-card so you can fill out one of their liability release before using their tanks (if you choose to use your own tanks and equipment no release is needed).

Remember, on clean-up dives you can use one glove during the dive to prevent cuts/burns/abrasions.

If you have any questions, please let us know via mailto:cleanup@bonairediving.com - we look forward to seeing all of you at the Town Pier in just over a week! (Don't forget to RSVP!)

Jake

PS Any non-divers out there? We need top-side support to help pull out garbage via dropped lines, as well as to administer the refreshments and people's car keys - let us know if you or a friend can help us out with this! Thanks!

Did you know that this Saturday is International Cleanup Day 2000? I will be diving in Nantucket Harbor and along the east jetty thinking of all of you in brotherly spirit (and much warmer water!). This mark's Nantucket's first-time participation in Project AWARE (Aquatic World Awareness Responsibility). Have fun and see you in October!
Kate
