Noticed on Hertz webpage they require one. Is that really so?

i got suckered into getting an IDL before taking my first caribbean trip (st. lucia) - i guess it did save me $20 and filling out a form there in st. lucia but i did not ever need it again (8 other caribbean trips)...i figure the $80 or $100 or whatever the three year license costs it was a waste of money - and you have to get a picture taken for it too (one without a dive mask on :-))

Nancy,

All you need is your American License in Bonaire, we have never been charged any other fee, though that has been with AB Car Rental

I used Hertz last year. All you need is your USA
drivers license.

We use Netty's, (excellent service), and just an American license is fine.

Avis even accepts Québec driving licenses, written in French! So, don't worry, and save the fee of the IDL for a few drinks at Karel's bar.
