Wow! Eureka! What if the Donkey Sanctuary rented the Donkey's to dive tourists. We could accomplish funding for the sanctuary and load tanks/equipment on them. They pay for their keep and who would steal them. It is just another mouth to feed for the would be thieves. It could be just the thing to make the Bonaire experience that much more special. On the other hand one role in the dirt and all of the carrots on the island won't keep that Donkey from shooting into orbit. And I like Donkeys.

just say'n....I would pay a fee for them to haul my gear up and down 1000 steps if my dive sherpa wasn't around...

Well they do it other places so I think it sounds like a good idea. But...I do not know much about donkeys (I know a lot of asses...but not donkeys) anyway, would they need to be trained, would they get too overheated when the sun is intense, would it open up a door for animal abuse....I just don't know how the logistics would work.

I like the idea too but I just think the dive sites are too far away in many cases to make it work. Donkeys are very heat resistant creatures so that should not be a factor I would think. I think our friend at the sanctuary would be the best expert to consult on this.
