I need an automatic transmission car from 3/12-3/26/11. I don't want to go back to AB Carrental. I tried Poppy but she only has manual pickups. Any other recommendations? I'd prefer a local company that takes AMEX.
Thanks,
Hope

Hi Hope -- don't know if Budget has automatics, but I have used them 6-7 times without any problems.

People rave about Poppy's. We're using them next visit. They will be waiting for us at the airport with all paperwork completed ready for signature. You load your stuff and go. When you leave for home, you park the car in the short term, put the key in the ashtray, and go...

Sounds great to me!

Oops, sorry -- didn't read the automatic part...

Hello Hope,
Poppy is the way to go. We arrived on the CO 1553 out of Newark at 4:40am. We walked out of the bag claim area and there Poppy stood. Our truck parked within a few steps from her happy face. One signature, loaded the truck, and I was gone.

Same simple procedure on the way out.

Best,

Hope- does AB not take Amex? Did you have a bad experience?

AB takes AMEX. We've never had a problem with them but others have. No personal connection. We made other arrangements for this year.

I also require an automatic when in Bonaire, and I've found that only Hertz reliably has automatics for rent (though I recommend setting it up online prior to going, as they don't have a ton of automatics).

Avis has some automatic cars, and they take AMEX.

ABcarrental now has a sign posted in the office stating that there is a $25 fee to use AmEx. We were told it is because AmEx carries fees for the business owner that other cards don't.

Does anyone have the definitive list of which rental agencies on the island accept AmEx?
