I have no idea how the airport is set up, we should be landing in Curacao at 2:10 on a Friday afternoon, Sept 3. Is it safe to make local reservations on a 3:00 flight to Bonaire, since there is no 4:00 flight the only other alternative would be to wait till 5:00. Thank you

You make the 3:00 reservation and tell them that your are on.....flight getting in at 2:10. If you are late, or you have to fill out lost luggage forms and miss the 3:00 flight, they'll accommodate you on the 5:00. If it is Divi, they have somebody standing with a Divi sign waiting for the arriving people, it is very laid back.

You shouldn't have any problem if your flight is on time. :) Are you switching airlines? If so do you know if you will have to claim your luggage? Some airlines have agreements, some don't. This is one thing that could slow you down a bit.

Only Insel will transfer your luggage from the MIA/CUR flight to the connecting Insel flight to Bonaire. All the others (AA), you must pick up your luggage (after clearing immigration), go thru customs, exit the hall & go to the other airline counters about 100 yards to the left, check-in, go thru security, immigration & to the gate. I live here, travel this frequently, and would never book before the 5pm Divi. I book the 5pm Divi, and if I land/get thru on time, ask if I can go on their 3:30 flight. I wouldn't take the chance that there were seats left on the 5pm Divi, because it's frequently full (since it's their last flight of the day). There's a lot more info under the "Getting To Bonaire" topic.

I agree with Ruth.
Would not like to take the chance of booking the 03:00 flight.
To many things can go wrong.
Why start your holiday with stress?

I agree with Ruth and Bob...you cannot take the chance that if you miss the 3:00 there will be an empty seat on the 5:00. Err on the side of caution. I have sailed through baggage claim, customs, and immigration in CUR only to stand in line at Divi for an hour, trying to check in. Seriously.

Ruth said it best. The only thing consistent about going through Curacao is that you can count on it taking forever.

When traveling through Cur I've never made it out of the customs hall in less than 45 minutes.
The 3 pm flight does seems a bit risky.
We've landed late a couple times on the AA flight--so that makes it impossible.
Caryl--when you exit the hall, turn left to go to the gates.

If nothing else, Ruth knows her flights, and chicken.
