We just booked our flights for our first visit to Bonaire, Yeah! We will be arriving at 530 AM on the Houston flight and I was not sure how it worked with rental vehicles? Are they open then or do you go into town later to rent them? How about when we leave (730AM the next saturday).

We will likely be staying at Diver's Paradise, will just be snorkeling and we hope to tour the island including the Park. Suggestions for rental car companies and types of vehicles would also be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

All the rental places are open to receive clients when they arrive and are open as well for drop off. If the agency asks for additional fees for them to be open when you arrive/depart..I suggest you find the ones who do not charge extra.

Jamie, Send a email to Telerin Car Rental. Poppy is the owner, and she will meet you at the airport with your truck/car when you arrive. She is dependable, and reasonable. We have used her service for many years!(with a smile)

Jamie, We used a truck from Total Rental on our last two visits. No problems and they were open at airport when we arrived and departed on red eye from Newark.

When you book your rental car you tell them your flight details and they will meet you accordingly or expect you at the rental office at the airport. We have arrived/departed with different flights and ordered a truck from Total, never had an issue. There are not that many flights every day, the rental companies are happy to accommodate the arriving guests!!!!

We rented from AB Carrental in April arriving on the red eye and they were outside waiting for us with a large van (there was 6 in our group). The morning we left, we realized we forgot to leave the condo key and the nice lady even drove me back to drop it off and then dropped us off at the airport.

On another note, one of our trucks got a flat tire and because we chose the full insurance, they had it fixed and changed within an hour! I didn't think anything happened quickly on Bonaire, but this was a very nice surprise! GET THE FULL INSURANCE!

Just back from Week on Bonaire, return on august 30. Used AB car rental. AS noted they pick you right outside from luggage area. return a bit of a
problem but filled out form to drop off truck across the street from the airport. Given that I was traveling alone I dropped off the truck and rolled my luggage to airport. at 4am this was no big deal :-) -- being up at 4am was a big deal!!
had email when i got home from AB all was well with the truck. really very easy.

We have used TOTAL and AB and both were fine. Met from the red eye and got dropped back ok.
Dont forget to leave nothing of value in the car and leave it unlocked when you leave it unattended.

I've used both Telerin and AB, and for my money you can't be Poppy at Telerin.
Telerin was cheaper and more personable than AB---just my opinion!
