I am trying to decide which to choose. I hear good and bad for both so I don't think there is much difference. However, it seems that Total only has CDW insurance and not COMPLETE insurance. Is that true? I don't want to get involved with $350 deductibles and other costs should something that is not covered by the CDW (such as theft or vandalism)occur.

Thoughts or suggestions?

We have used Total in the past without a problem. It seems that they do have CDW AND full insurance. I think the CDW is $11.00 per day and the full insurance is an additional $8.00 per day and both together would be an additional $19.00 per day. I copied this from the totalcarrentalbonare.com website:

"Third Party Liability/Collision Damage (see coverage details in Insurance paragraph below) carries a deductible of USD $350.00 (NAFl 612.50).
Third Party Liability/Collision Damage for SUV 4x4 and Truck 4x4 carries a deductable of $1000.00 (1750.00).

5) Insurance: Only the driver will be covered by insurance as described in the following paragraphs:

a) Damage of the vehicle with a deductible of US$ 350.00 for the account of the renter for each and every loss or damage.

b) Accidental damages caused to third parties with a deductible of US$ 350.00 for the account of the renter for each and every damage.

c) The insurance is valid for the duration of the rental mentioned on the front of your rental contract, and provided at the time of the rental."

I never looked at the fine print before and it now troubles me to know that even though I paid for the "full" insurance, I would have been subjected to a $1,000.00 deductible for the pickup truck we rented!

I would e-mail both AB and Total with your insurance question to be sure and keep a copy of their e-mailed answer for your protection.

I've just returned from dushi Bonaire and did rent with AB..luckily with the Full Insurance, which is $ 19,-- a day, and only with this insurance you will be also covered for theft...I did have bad luck....I was diving at Andrea II and when I did return of my dive, one of the windows of my truck was broken! I was really upset, and did contact right away police who did arrive within 15 minutes...later on I went to the AB office and as I did have the Full Insurance there was not any charge on my account, it was fully covered, they did give me another truck and I was able to join my holiday again...

Hi Bill and Jim,

Indeed Jim, me also was told to lock the car, leave the glovecompartment open, so they can see nothing valuebles is in it and don't leave anything valuebles into the car.

The lady of AB told me that in previous years you had to leave the car open, however the thieves did get smarter, when the car is open, it's easily to open the hood and to take the battery out. That's why you have to lock the car nowadays.
