Are there handicap parking spots on the island?

I'm wondering if its worth bringing my parking permit or not.

There are a few handicap parking spaces in the main town parking lot and as it gets very full, very quickly it might be worthwhile.

I've always taken mine with me & use it where ever I go without any problems.

I've used my Ontario (Canadian) permit in the UK, all over the USA, & Germany without ever getting a ticket.

It would be pretty easy to explain to a judge... (I would hope) LOL

TKS, Harry. Good thing to know!

Here in the US a plastic tag that can be hung on the inside rear view mirror is used. Is the Canadian 'permit' similar?

there are very very few handicap parking spaces on bonaire and not enforced .. your chances in parking in one of them is almost zero. i don't know the current law but a couple of years ago i had a surgery that required use of the convenience of the designated spaces .. i inquired at the polis station and was told no permit was necessary .. no permits are issued here etc. i would suggest you visit with the polis and get the facts.

We have a laminated placard to put on the dashboard. I wish we had the hanging type that you have as mine slides across the dash & I'm afraid sometimes it might just fly out the open window while turning a corner.

I'm going to bring it anyway... you never know. Probably won't need it if I bring it, but if I leave it at home I most likely could have used it.

Getting packed up right now & off to the airport this afternoon.

Cheers!
Harry

The Second Corollary of Murphy's Law, Harry!

Pietri, TKS for the information. Informative posts are one of the good reasons for BT, so visitors can get needed information before leaving home.

you can bring it but it is a true waste of time ... no real handicapped parking available and no matter where you place it .. on a dash board or hanging .. it will probably get no recognition or any enforcement .. let us know what happens ..this could be very interesting ... bonaire is bonaire
