Just wondering if anyone has rented from AB Car Rental. Their ad jumps out at us on this web-site, so we're considering a compact from them for our trip in Sept. ... prices look reasonable, etc. Are we OK with just our credit-card insurance and declining the optional CDW? How does it work when we leave the island with an early morning departure, returning the car before they open? How strict are the driving laws (not that we intend to drag race on Main Street with an alcohol level of 5-times the legal limit). I expect we will be "parade marshalls" for much of the time after hearing of the strict speeding laws.

Hi Ronald, since you are renting a compact, you can use your own credit card for insurance and decline the CDW, however, make sure that your card you use does insure cars outside the USA and on Bonaire first. Very important. Most of all the rental agencies are open for the early Continental flight, but check to make sure. I know lots of folks take theirs back and they are there when they leave. But to be on the safe side, ask them when making your reservation. Most open at 5am.

Hi Ronald! Welcome to Bonaire Talk. AB is a good operation, and if something is wrong with the vehicle, they will do all they can to fix the situation. With the early and many departures now on the weekends (KLM, Continental, and AE), they are usually there by 5:30AM. Last trip, we arrived at 6AM and they had been there for a half an hour already as all three, KLM, Continental, and AE were leaving that morning.

I just rented a Kia Picanto from AB Carrental while in Bonaire. AB was very easy to work with. We got to Bonaire a day and a half late due to flight issues and I had emailed them and they were very understanding. I used the insurance with my credit card and declined their insurance. Because of that they put a $500 deposit on my card, when the car was returned without any problems that deposit was voided. Have fun

Hi, Ron! We have rented from AB since 2000 and love the service and the vehicles. Never had a problem with anything at all. Monique and the other ladies are superb! cb

if you take the cdw the card company does not insure you. that was the information we got from both mastercard and amex. personal liability is not covered, just damage.

Just an FYI, rented from AB Carrental this time in Bonaire and everything went very smoothly indeed. Pickup, drop off, car. No problems. We had a small Kia.

I know that AB is close to the airport but is it within walking distance or can they pick you up at the terminal?
