A/B carrental
Budget
Total
Avis

Just a few here, but there are others. Get a 4 door pickup. It's the best way to haul gear and tanks. I always purchase the optional insurance as well. Cheap piece of mind vs a hefty bill if something should happen. By asking this ? I assume you have not reserved a vehicle so you should do it now. No guarantee there will be one available if you wait til you get there

Be advised that the truck insurance does not cover the deductible. For example, Budget has a $300 deductible. I dinged up one of their trucks and I had to pay $300 even though I had purchased the insurance from Budget. You're better off using American Express Blue Credit Card - they have truck rental insurance. I dinged up another truck last year on Bonaire, put the deductible on my American Express Blue Card and never had to pay a cent. American Express deducted it from my card once they received the required paperwork from the car rental agency. You can save alot of money and hassle by avoiding the truck rental agency insurance and going with the Blue Card. Have a great trip and use AB. Later.

Marcus - what the heck are you doing with these trucks - never mind - I probably don't want to know. ;-)

I know. I've dented up two of them in the last 6 years of diving Bonaire. One of them I backed into a low concrete barricade I couldn't see in the dark at Happy Holiday Homes and the other one I bumped the mirror and the side panel into a light pole I think it was while backing out of my parking spot at the Belmar. I was talking to my wife and not paying attention on the 2d one. Minor damage on both but expensive nonetheless.

Just a few comments about the AMEX truck rental insurance. It is called "premium car rental insurance", and you need to sign up for it with AMEX before you head off on vacation. Price varies with the type of AMEX card you use - from about $19.95 per rental period to $24.95 per rental period (and the coverage varies slightly with the different prices). Once you sign up, the charge applies to EVERY car rental you make with that card (almost anywhere in the world, but there are a few exceptions) until you cancel the coverage. Also gets applied to all other AMEX cards you have except "Corporate" cards unless you opt out for the other cards. Covers most cars (but not super-luxury or high-performance cars) and small trucks (pickups, but not U-Haul or similar moving-type vans). Make sure the car rental agency allows you to decline their coverage and just use AMEX; ABCarrental does allow this; not sure about the others on Bonaire. And you must use the AMEX card to reserve and pay for the rental. Enjoy

we've been very happy with island rentals the last few times. they have a small fleet and might not have anything available on short notice but i'd try them anyway.

Hey marcus, Let us all know when you are at Bonaire so we are sure to not be on the road when you are. HeeHee. Could not help teasing you. Did you "hear it" from your wife as much as my hubby would have?

Oh yeah, I got an earful from the wife - both times!! When riding with me on Bonaire she now takes her duties as "shotgun" very seriously.
