Yes, I know this isn't an accomodation question, but has Netty closed her car rental business?

Stuart, I've moved this to "Getting Around Bonaire." Netty sold her business and was moving back to Holland.

I was there and (sort of) rented from her in October. She was still on Island as late as October 26th.

She is in the process of selling the company but is still honoring all reservations. She misses her family and is going back to Holland. Because she had no inventory, she acquired a truck from A/B (an upgrade at that). So my contract and services (and prices) were from Netty. But the insurance options were from A/B. Essentially transparent to me and she was always where she said she would be.

I am not sure of the status of her selling the business at this point but, again, she honored all prior reservations and prices 100% (except for the new/different insurance options and that is to be expected).

Assuming the sale is completed, I would expect Nettys to remain open albeit under new ownership.

My husband and I were in Bonaire from October 14-21st. We had contacted Netty in advance regarding a truck rental. We've used her several times on past visits and always had great service. However, Netty e-mailed us prior to our trip and said that she was returning to Holland and would switch our rental to Total Car Rental. Total's office is next door to Netty's at the Bonaire airport.

When we arrived in Bonaire, Netty's airport office was completely closed and the office was cleaned out (no computer, paperwork was boxed up, etc.) The only problem we had at Total was that they originally didn't want to honor Netty's price for the truck rental (Netty was cheaper than what Total Car Rental usually charges). But I had received an e-mail from Total Car Rental before we arrived at Bonaire confirming the price and rental, so all went okay.

We'll miss Netty! She was always very easy to deal with and we had no problems with her service. We saw no signs of anyone having bought her business while we were in Bonaire.

We have a truck booked with Netty for Dec. 27 for 10 days. I haven't heard anything about a change. Should I try to book something else? I e mailed but haven't got a reply.

I know selling the business for what she thought was a fair value was taking longer than anticipated. I also know she was on island as late as Oct 26th. She was very committed to honoring my reservation (and I assume others as well).

That said, if I were booking a car (or checking on a reservation already made), I would give her a few days to respond via email. After that, personally, I would book with someone else. You could also try and call.
