We will be traveling w/ 4 adults, 4 small kids - can we get by with one truck? Only adults would be in car for shore diving and then everyone to go into town...

If you don't rent a better truck (in other words, don't go for the lowest rate) you *may* be able to fit everyone in. In general, almost all of the trucks are small - no F150 size trucks. As a matter of fact, they generally aren't even Ranger sized.

So I'd say no... but it's up to you.

The lower rate trucks, you'll be lucky to have seat belts. And luckier if they work. :-)

It depends on how big the kids are. Some times people sit in the pickup bed. This is very dangerous and not a good idea. You can rent vans that can hold your group and also use them for shore diving.

That's a good idea, Michael. I was trying to figure a configuration for 4 adults, 4 children, and the best I could think was a 4 seat truck, with 3 children on laps and one child jammed in between in the back seat. Not the best situation, and it wouldn't even be legal in the states.

I have been advised that it is illegal to sit on the pick-up bed. People sometimes do it and get away with it, others get fined.

i've seen people not only sitting in the beds of the pickups but standing in the beds with their faces in the wind. always reminded me of a truckful of golden retreivers.

i wouldn't recommend it either.

most trucks will seat five...actually ours could fit six but they'd be squeezed. still, i think a van is a better idea.
