Hi all, my wife and I are taking our first trip to Bonaire Sep 8-16. We are snorkelers, and will be enjoying this long awaited trip - first "extended" vacation sans children since our honeymoon, I think! Since we want to make the best use of our time, I'd like to pose a question to you experts out there - if there was ONE thing you HAVE to do while on Bonaire, what would it be?

We would not miss a night snorkel with Dee from the Woodwind. It is always a trip highlight.

Bill, since you are a snorkeler, I highly recommend doing a day trip on the Woodwind. I did it the last time I was there (just a few short weeks ago!) and absolutely loved it. You get to snorkel at Klein Bonaire which isn't accessible from shore. It was a great drift dive. Then we came back and did another snorkel at Andrea 1.5 (halfway between Andrea 1 and Andrea 2) and they fed us a snack, lunch, and drinks. I highly recommend it ! (wait, I already said that)

You MUST visit the Donkey Sanctuary! Buy the little bag of food ($3 US) and drive around their little area. Bring a camera. You'll have a blast! We sure did and can't wait to return.
Diane

We LOVE to watch sunsets on Bonaire.. My favorite accoutrement while doing this is Johnnie Walker Black on ice, & watch for the "green flash" as the sun majestically settles down into the ocean. THEN go out & eat Ribs, ribs & more ribs.

Sit out on the dock, alone in the dark, under the canopy of thousands of stars..... looking towards the lights of Crawlingdike.... feeling like such a small insignificant being in this great big universe..... and getting a refreshed perspective on life. I do it every year.

By all means do go by the Divi early in the week and sign up for the wednesday snorkel/beach bbq sail on the Woodwind. You will not be disappointed. The sail over is nice, the snorkeling is great, and the food is great. My wife and I have been to Bonaire 3 times and haven't missed this trip once. We are going at the end of Sept and will go again. Go to Richards and Mona Lisa for dinner. They are the nicest places on the island and each have great food. Moderately expensive, but not bad. Enjoy and raise a glass to us poor saps working stateside.

Washington Slagbaai Park - - do not miss going here! The beaches are very private! The snorkeling would be incredible! We dove - - but spent a lot of time in very shallow water!

All the different views throughout the park are just beautiful!
