Hi Guys we are leaving in a few days. first timers to bonaire (we have lived and been to other islands). will have a pickup with Budget for 7 days. staying at Capt' Don.s etc
I'm concerned with the break in on vehicle.
If you keep the windows down and doors unlocked and nothing in vehicle.. I assume chances are.. no theft vandalism etc..
either way is it a good idea to get the extra insurance , at $12 a day, just in case. we do not have coverage on our charge card or auto insurer in fla. they do not cover international.
please get back to us asap.
your immediate feedback would be appreciated

Norm, I would suggest buying the insurance. Even if your credit card doesn't cover it you may be able to purchase it through the company (i.e. Citibank will sell you a 30 policy for $19.95)Theft doean't happen often but if it does you wouldn't want to have to cover expenses out of your own pocket. Be safe and have a wonderful trip.

thank you soo. much Rosanne.
soo.. all you need is the cdw insurance.?
I see its about $12 a day..on will go with that, budgetbonaire.com
(visa said they would cover suv's and autos but we want to stay with the truck.)
I was on the phone with my travel agent Maduro who books heavily there, they said get the cdw and thats it.
is there any other insurance i would need. I see some people mentioned on here getting FUll insurance. I assume that would be for liability, medical.
will stay with the cdw.
thanks again.

Another insurance question or is it the same question over and over? Obviously, this is an important issue but I'd like to modify the issue a bit. Cdw is to cover the damage you do when you cause the accident (or am I wrong?). If so how many BT's have caused accidents that required CDW? It seems like there is very little traffic on Bonaire and little chance of collision. Am I wrong?

I believe A/B is the only rental agency that has FULL insurance, all others have CDW only. Full insurance covers you for theft of something from your vehicle. Click on here for the difference between CDW and Full: http://www.abcarrental.com/insurance.html

This is for just A/B, don't think full is offered at other rentals like I said. Someone can correct me if I am wrong here.

If you are going to use American Express to charge the truck, you may be able to have full coverage through them. This has been discussed extensively on this site, so suggest doing a search under either AMEX, Insurance or AMEX Insurance. Cost per rental varies between about $20 and $30, depending on which AMEX card one uses, and must be signed up for before you travel. Usually available with various business cards.
