Can anyone tell me what the current gas prices are in Bonaire? We live in California and are paying about $2.60 per gallon, If I remember correctly it sold by the liter in Bonaire.

Last month it was NG1.89/liter.

In US$ equivalent, this is in-line with what I just saw in Chile & Brazil this past week of US$1.10-1.20 per liter.

Rosanne... 1.10/liter is actually more than what you are paying at home. There are somethign like 3.76liters to a gallon, so you're paying about 4-5 bucks a gallon US in bonaire.

That's o.k.! I got a laugh myself! I thought I was fairly good at math, you made me nervous for a minute. I guess we could complain but why bother, I'm still going to drive at home and Bonaire regardless of the price. Thanks for the pop math quiz though! (smile)

Isn't it nice that the distances on Bonaire are so short!?!?!?! :–)

You could say that again! We did rent bikes and scooters one year which was fun and more enviro-friendly and cost effective but this year we will have the 2 kids with us and those forms of transportation just won't cut it!

Rosanne,

Just returned a week ago from Bonaire and we had rented a Mazda B2200 from AB Rental. We snorkeled all over the island as well as doing quite a bit of sight-seeing. We put quite a few kilometers on our little truck in seven days!

It had 7/8 of a tank when we picked it up. Before we returned it, we filled it up at Lisa Gas. We couldn't figure out the self-serve pumps, so we went to the full-service pumps.

The fill was $42 US for about half a tank. We loosely figured the cost at $4.40 US per gallon, which fits in with Shawn's estimate.

I'm sure not going to complain about the $2.34 a gallon I pay at home!

Amy

Thanks for the info Amy! Has anyone rented from Hertz on Bonaire lately? All the people seem to be renting from other companies, I was wondering if there was a reason. We got a corporate rate which was about half of what AB rental rate was.If anyone has any helpful info please let me know so that if I need to revise/change our reservation I can.Thanks.....
