After two years of lurking, and a cancelled trip last January, we finally have tickets in hand and only 35 days until we finally make it to Bonaire. Yes, the excitement is beginning to mount! We've learned quite a bit from you all over the past two years and feel like we have come to know you. Some of the webcam antics have gotten more than one of us a raised eyebrow at work! While we love the water and will spend probably 90% of our time there, we also enjoy seeing new places. Since one of us is an avid cyclist, we will likely be dragged into mounting up. We've done several searches and no real answer yet - does anyone recommend any particular routes or sights by bicycle? (And, no, the Park is definitely via vehicle! I'm too old for that!!) We are looking forward to meeting those of you who will be there during our stay!

And don't forget the near-constant NE trade winds-- at 10-20 knots out in the open countryside, the upwind can be a challenge to the knee and/or age challenged!

Thanks Linda!

I think I had actually found this set of maps before and then could not find them again - I probably lost all patience with the dial-up and quit looking!

My husband likes to bike the "southern loop". We live in Belnem, so he starts from there, heading south along the shore road which loops around the southern part of the island. When he gets to Sorobon, he goes left onto Kaya Van Eps, which is a straight shot home (with a tail wind!). The whole ride is flat, but the winds can be killer. He said it takes him about an hour. PS- he's in great shape and an avid biker.
