A search for car rental from Budget turned up mostly old posts about this company.

Anyone have any new or recent information about their experience with Budget Car Rental on Bonaire in say late 2003 or 2004?

Phillip, I've rented from Budget twice (2001 and last July 2003). Never had a problem with them. Look the car over carefully, as this last time, the one I rented had quite a few scratches on it. Someone had suggested taking pics of the vehicle when you get it in case there is a discrepancy when you check it back in. Both times I was more than happy with their service. I usually rent from Budget in the states as well.

YOu didn't come up with much in the search most likely because in general, the only time you hear about car rentals is when someone has a negative experience:-(

Phillip,

Rented a RAV4 from Budget in January and had no problems at all. There were several scratches and dings, but merely cosmetic. At time of pickup just be very observant on your walkthrough and they will jot down any of these on a sketch of the vehicle. I would absolutely use them again on our next visit!!
Best of luck

Big Ed

I've always enjoyed using AB rentals, much more so than another company I've complained about before on these pages.

We will be using AB Car Rental for the second time and Marc assures me that we will have a nice truck this year.

Budget offers a discount on the back of your Entry % Exit card when you arrive on Bonaire. Just show it to them when you pick up your car. (It is on the tear off portion that you keep and turn in at departure)

Oh, my goodness!! I forgot about Mr. McCheese being in the vicinity!! LOL. Yes, Michael enjoys a good, fresh grated cheese, too....in addition to the Folgers, the bagels (NY style, of course), the shortbread cookies and the NY Times...natch! Not necessarily in that order, however.

Joe, you must have been dreaming about cheese as I was writing that post at 3:30 this morning! I'll bet you woke up with a subliminal message running thru your brain.....locatelli cheese....locatelli cheese.....yes? Ayo. Carole

Phillip, I have rented from Budget for many years. Several years ago a new manager took over and I have found the new operation to be excellent. The manager is Dirk Jan. He can be reached through the following: budgetbo@bonairelive.com. I think you will find that Dirk Jan will provide excellent service, and a prompt reply to your questions.

Philip;
I am a lttle late here, but if you are still reading the postings, I rented from Budget several times. Always been good. Even when I discovered an overcharge (Did not refund my deposit) after I returned home and got my statement a month later they fixed it with no hassles. I simply emailed Dirk Jan and the problem was resolved.

Returned a Toyota 4 door truck last Sunday that was practically new. Didn't take the insurance partly on everyones advice here but they tried to charge me for it. They didn't succeed. Other then that ok, will update when C.C. charges catch up to me.

Thanks to all who responded. We've decided to try Budget this year and hopefully avoid our last experience with a rental truck that should have long ago been put out to pasture.

I vote for AB Car Rental, for many reasons - not the least of which is that Marc is adorable! ;)

How is the cost of Budget compared to the other agencies? I use Budget in Grand Cayman for best rate and good service.

Budget is a franchise operation internationally, so each island would be different owners and management.
