In Feb, 2004 plan to be on Bonaire for 1 month. Have two kids, one of which is only 15 months. Is there a law on Bonaire about child safety seats, if so what is it? Trying to decide if I need to pack a car seat from Montana to Bonaire, since renting one at $4 a day would cost more than the car seat itself!

There are no seatbelt/car seat laws for children on Bonaire. In fact, when we moved here six and a half years ago, we had a tough time buying a car with seatbelts in the rear seat :-) (and we moved here with a 3 month old and 2 year old).

If you are not buying an airline seat for your child, I would suggest you bring your seat from home. If you read all the horrible studies on what happens to children (or adults for that matter!) who are not properly restrained in an auto accident, you wouldn't think twice about bringing your car seat.

Do car seats/strollers count against your luggage for AJ? Or are gate check items "free"?

Do the car rental places have car seats available or should I bring one from home?
