Hi,

We're staying at the Plaza. How much is a taxi from the airport to the property? Are taxis good enough (cheap enough) for us to use to get to town, restaurants, and a mini-mart from the Plaza? We are snorkelers. Does anyone know of a driver/guide who can drive us around for a day to various snorkeling spots? How about the same thing for a private boat with a guide for the day? Thanks.

You should get transfer to and from airport from the Plaza, have you checked with them? Ours was included with our stay. Last year they picked us up on arrival and took us to airport upon departure. I don't know the price of taxi but you might want a car just to get to see the island....it is such an awesome island and you can snorket from so many places marked with yellow rocks that it would probably be worth checking into a car some while you are there....Rental car will also come to Plaza and take you to get the car....we did that last year. This year we are just getting the car upon arrival and returning the night before, as the we too are staying at the Plaza and will have them take us to the airport with our early departure....

We really enjoy the Plaza for snorkeling and the beach, although not the long walk type beaches, that's the price you pay for such awesome sea life....

By the way when are you going? We leave Sept. 12 for trip number two to Bonaire and our so looking forward to it.

Have a great trip.

Angela

Steve,
The Plaza is very close to the airport. If you have enough time reserve a rental car, pick it up at the airport and drive to the Plaza. It will cost you about the same and you will have it for the 24hr period. Better yet keep it for the week you'll be glad you did.

I agree with renting a car, especially if you want to snorkel elsewhere and tour the island. Taxis in Bonaire are expensive. Much more convenient and worth the cost to rent a car.

Hi Steve and welcome to BT. You really do not have to hire a guide. Snorkeling is very simple on Bonaire. Just do a search on BT and most of your questions will be answered. If not, ask some more questions here. A car is definately nice to have. Plaza and the airport are almost right beside each other.

Steve, for a private boat contact Capt. Mike of the sailing vessel "Mistress". He conducts a super snorkeling tour using a large semi-rigid inflatable boat. He usually departs from the pier downtown behind Karl's Bar..
