My wife brought up a question that I haven't seen posted here. She has made numerous trips to Mexico,(always told not to drink the water and watch what you eat) and wanted to know is the local water is OK to drink, or should we get imported bottled water?

Our tap water is probably better than most bottled. Please, from now on though, don't mention Bonaire and Mexico in the same sentence. On day 80, you'll see why.

My husband the nurse practitioner is a bottled water fanatic and goes through gallons of the stuff a day; he even puts our perfectly fine tap water through the Brita before drinking it at home. I was therefore astounded to see him drinking straight tap water in Bonaire -- the fact that it is distilled had apparently made all the difference to him. I thought it was great too. Ruth is right -- there is no comparison between Bonaire and Mexico so far as public health is concerned.

Bonaire's water is fabulous! The distilled kind and the sea kind!

Bonaire's water is the best in the world. It is about the "safest" water you can consume, as well. Not to mention the fact that it is the best TASTING water on top of that! You will LOVE Bonaire's water...right out of the tap....best if chilled a little, tho, in my opinion. I wish I could have some of that water right now.....Carole

If there's any negative to the water on Bonaire, it's that it's -too- clean -- desalinated sea water doesn't have much mineral content left in it, apparently. After a couple of days of drinking a lot of water on-island, we tend to inhale a couple of Gatorades to get our electrolyte counts back up to normal again...

I am still cherishing the last few drops of water that I have in a bottle that I filled for the long journey home from our trip there in early June. I don't have the heart to finish it. It would be too much like putting a period at the end of the sentence (the one that states I had to go home and couldn't stay in Bonaire forever! ;)!

I'll drink to that....! We actually did run out of Salitos after your visit (sad days!)--but it's back in stock & icy cold. I'll dedicate next one to you guys! I think it's the only thing worth drinking, besides our wonderful water of course.

I am trying to find a way for one of the local distributors to be able to get Salitos here for us. So far, no luck. I wish I could find a local distributor for the Bonairian water, too! Especially the salty variety... now that would be a trick!
