The best food I ever eaten is at Zeezicht
and it was the bets I didn't have to go no place else because I had my breakfast there than my Lunch and then my dinner and I partied at karels
and had free snacks and had a blast I hope you go there it is the best.

I was in Bonaire last week and had an excellent meal at Capriccios.
There were 5 of us, we hadn't a reservation but they accommodated us very nicely anyway.

The service was very good and the food way above my standards.

Everyone in our group was impressed ( thankfully, since I recommended we go there ).

I highly recommend a visit to Capriccios ( especially the lasagna ).

Best Meal.

Any meal on Bonaire is great, but among my favorites are the "combo" at Bobbejan's (variety of Indonesian sate', ribs, chicken, etc) and the "Chinese Food" at China Nobo. This is on the menu and what they make for themselves. The fish at Gibi's (whole fish, batter panned fried) was great to at the BT convention (even the eyeballs were good).

Eyeballs ?

Bud, did you really eat the eyeballs ?

No offence Bud, but that is sick, like kissing your own sister.

To each their own.

Rich.

Hey Rich,

What is the matter with kissing your sister? Here in West Virginia where the family tree is vertical, you can still get divorced and remain brother and sister :-)

Mark,

During my stay in Bonaire I also ate at "It Rains Fishes".

Good service, good food, good beer and good wine.

Good hang-over the next day too.

Thank God for Nitrox, the added oxygen helps hang-overs.

Hey Greg,

Don't tell me you are somebody's uncle-brother ?

Rich

Our best meal(s) were Bar Hap at the Mona Lisa (thanks for the tip, Marion at Coco Palm!). Bar Hap for the uninitiated, which we were, is an excellent (Dutch?) custom whereby you get a great meal in a great restaurant for a great price. You choose from a menu restricted to a few items and eat in the bar, and are then charged quite a bit less than you would pay in the restaurant proper. We enjoyed wonderful cooking in a casual and friendly atmosphere at the Mona Lisa. Fabulous drinks too. I felt like I was having a mini-European vacation within the Caribbean one -- this was certainly some of the best food, and without doubt at the best price, we have had anywhere in the Carib.

Mona List is our absolute favorite. Cappricio's rates second for me, with their lobster pasta one of my favorite. It Rains Fishes is good too. And don't overlook the Lion's Den. We had terrific food there.

Anyone who can willingly accommodate our vegan (very strict vegetarian) diet is high on my list, but my two favorites are:

#2: Garden Cafe, where we can actually order wonderful vegan food off the menu and don't have to call ahead to arrange anything (thanks, Raja!), and:

#1: Rendezvous, where the chef always makes us the most imaginative and wonderful dishes when we call ahead. All of the meals we've had there have been fantastic, but my very favorite is still the very first meal we had there, where he made the most delicate meal of poached vegetables -- the flavoring was so subtle, and yet so delightful! "Poached vegetables" sounded so dull, and yet it was so -very- far from dull...

Faith

My favorite meal was not dinner but lunch at the Lost Penguin and their Eggs Benidict. Best dinner is tougher to decide, there were so many great ones, probably the Seasame Encrusted Tuna at the Banana Tree or the ribs at Rum Runners or the Beef Medalions in wine sauce at Capriccios or the Caribbean buffet at the Tipsy Seagull or the grouper at Gibis. Oh never mind, I relished them all

I am glad Swiss Chalet is mentioned..super lady..she feeds u well and very comfortable surroundings..I am trying to remember if I ever had a bad meal in Bonaire and cannot think of one..

The only problem I have is trying to figure out when Rose Inn is open..it' always closed when we go during the week days..I think Thur. is her day off..but..sometimes we have driven out there and the food is gone..(Sat. )..oh well.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the "Old Mill", J.A. Abraham Blvd. opposite Plaza Resort.

They serve dinner only but outstanding Indonesian and a variety of local (and Dutch) meals.

Yes Michael, that explains everything...don't forget, the word "toothbrush" came from West Virginia...any other state it would have been teethbrush...

The best meal on Bonaire will be those homemade Cajun and Jalepeno sausages I'm bringing down for Jake.

And I might find some room for some custom cut rib-eyes also!!

Dee-lish!

interesting that you say Zeezicht. Both times we have been to bonaire we have eaten at Z the first night there. it seemed the perfect first night ambiance both time (with a different couple/group with us both times. The first time we were there the friends we were with wanted to go back several times. However they all agreed that the best meal they had on bonaire was my spaghetti dinner (I cooked it at belmar). Other favorites include: Mia Poron's and Den Lamar

We visited the Lighthouse twice, because the first time was so good! The food has some pizzaz to it. Most other restaurants we visited had no spice, little zing. Susan, the female part of the husband/wife team was wonderful to talk with. The staff was great but most important was the quality of the food. Imaginative, fresh and tasty. An other restaurant to recommend was Donna and Giorgio's on Sunday evening. They have a string band that makes the evening colorful and the food was very good also. I must say I craved a blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich (which we have gotten on other Carribeann islands) but never found one. Spice things up down there!

Elizabeth...
Agree with you wholeheartedly. The best food I've "ever" had was at the Mona Lisa. Whether you selected the "bar hap" or the dining room menu, the food is par excellence. Hans and Douwe, the owners, are charming gentlemen. Can't wait to return next Feb/Mar. Carol

OK, there are no negative postings here, so I will give one. Chibichibi at Divi Flamingo. Poor food and poor service. My sister had a curry which was heavy on bell peppers, bell peppers are never used in Indian cooking. The service was very indifferent. We had eaten there 2 years ago and had the same experience.

Without a doubt - the Pineapple Chicken prepared by Fu Lun Wu (pronounced Foo Loon Woo) at the Island Snack, Kaya Korona - 60 (the Road to Rincon). 2nd best is any other menu choice at the same place. Food is excellent, large portions and inexpensive. Don't let the modest surroundings fool you - stop and try it once. Also, while there, please tell Fu Lun that Richard and Karen sent you!

OK the gloves are off. Last year we had the worst meal at the Beefeaters. We were not sure what we were eating. There were seven of us and we all agreed. We whole heartily agree that Mona Lisa and Swiss Chalet were superb and well worth the praise.

We've been back a week. Our best meal is a toss-up between the Lobster Night special at Lion's Den and a special fresh tuna feast for 16 at the Lighthouse at Harbor Village, a 30 pounder caught that day by Larry from the Scuba Quest dive club and served up grilled with an outstanding fresh ceviche. We found the friendliest service at Buddy Dive, It Rains Fishes, and the Lighthouse. One of my favorite lunches was the crab/shrimp salad at City Cafe--we went back three times in ten days.

The only questionable meal was a fast food kroket sandwich for lunch. Does anybody know what's in those things? I'm not sure I want to know. If it hadn't been breaded and deep fried I couldn't have finished it.

I'm with you Marc. Yana and I love krokets. Jake and Bas are major fricandel fans with mayo and curry ketsap.

If u want 2 see me drooling (u probably don't want 2 :-) ) u would have 2 offer me a sate-kroket! Yummmmie...
I don't like fricandel. Linda, do they take pieces of onion with that as well? That would be a fricandel speciaal.

Jake loves the onion with it.
Sate-kroket sounds good too.

Bas likes one that they call a sate schnitzel at Warehouse. It is breaded chicken with bami noodles and sate saus inside.
