Hey guys,

We're coming to Bonaire Tuesday May 27th & staying for one month. Since we're staying at Pamboe & have a kitchen, we need advice as to where to get fresh vegtables, fruit, meat, fish & other ingredients. I know that there are 2 grocery stores, but do they have a good selection of the fresh veggies & fruit? Are there any good fruit stands?

Can anyone give us an idea of what food we're likely to find in the stores. I cooked for a gourmet restaurant in Chapel Hill N.C. (The Weathervane at A Southern Season) & I still love to cook.

What about food prices? Are the stores very expensives?

Thanks for any info you all can give us. If anyone will be around in June, we're up for meeting some people.

Thanks guys,

Asher & Carolyn

We get fish from the local fishermen. There are several markets and two warehouses for food. You can find most items by going to the different stores. No one stop shopping here. I usually bring small baggies with all my spices that I will need. We cook in 80% of the time. Do a search and you will find a lot of information. There are plenty of fresh fruit and veggies just buy something when you see it because when you go back it might be gone. Have a great trip.

Bring some nice canvas bags, they don't give them away. Down by the waterfronts south end in town is a fruit vendor. Canoceria Latina on saturday for chicken and ribs, no cooking for the weekend that way.
And what Corney Ann said, see it? BUY IT!
Our last trip was holiday time, the stores were closed a couple of days and no container came in that week.
