I adore Roti (Burrito like dish filled with curry chicken)..where can I find it in BON? Some women sells at Lac Bay on Tue. but I always missed her and the guys do not know her name. The owners of that Chinese bar across from nursing home/medical school area on Kaya Gerharts sell it but they never know when. Benny knows someone who only sells on holidays..YIKES..anyone know ANYTHING? I had a Trinidadian neighbor in Antigua who taught me how to make it but you need Ghee and a special pan and it's LOTS of work..not for me..LOL

Thnx

Ann,

We know a local Surinam woman that can make Roti for you (Suriname style with bone-in chicken, vs. Trinidadian style which is more pungent curry and boneless). She does mostly food for catering, so will not want to make just one or two Roti though.

Jake

PS Ghee is clarified butter I believe.

Last Tuesday I went to bed 'early', because I was completely beat. I had slept for about 2,5 hours the previous night and had a busy day at work. And the weekend was quite busy, too. Yeah, I know this is usual stuff for some people... :-) But not for me...
That's what you get with a 'hubby' who gets home at 00:30 am, watches a sometimes loud movie in the livingroom and tosses and turns when he hears a mosquito in the room....
But count me in next time... :-)

Ann -- thanks for that hint. We LOVE roti, so we'll be there for it next trip (late Dec-Jan)

Our last trip, the owner of Bonaire Town Homes, where we stay, heard of our love for roti, and made it for us -- surinames style -- SO GOOD!!

However, that's a lot of work, so I'm happy we can find it at Spanhoek -- which I love anyway. We either never noticed it on the menu, or it's new since Feb.
