Mary...
Take a look at the previous post "Where are the best low $ places to dine." The restaurants listed there have mostly local menus and come highly recommended. If you go to the website "www.InfoBonaire.com" under the heading restaurants, you will find just about all the restaurants in Bonaire listed as well as their type of cuisine. Our favorite has always been the Mona Lisa (international), but there are many other excellent choices as well (Capriccio's, Croccantino's, de Tuin, Richard's). The brochure "Bonaire Dining Guide" is available at the airport, some shops and the hotels on the island. Carol Collins

Just back from Bonaire. Our favorite for local food this year was New Bon Awa, just past where Mi Poron is, across from Hitess. I'm a fan of kabritu stoba, but I hate picking out little pieces of bone from the stew. At Bon Awa, the meat was carefully cut up, and the bones were easy to spot. Also had pisku mulatu (wahoo) with a great sauce.

We liked Antriole Catering, too, but you'll have to get directions from a local--I thought we were pulling into somebody's driveway!

Gibi's on Tuesday night for good fellowship.

Always liked Bon Awa but the ownership was new last year and we hadn't heard any comments re the food. Thanks for the info. We'll go back there next time. Carol

Hi, Mary! I'm no expert on the local food....but we did try some spots near town. Little tiny places. No one spoke English, the menus were not in English....so we just pointed... got two cheese sandwiches on very fresh bread and two drinks for about $5.00. That's all I need between dives....

And of course try Maiky Snack! Their chicken (galina hasa) is ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!! Off the road outta town heading towards Sorobon. Left turn just a bit past the stadium, follow signs. Mmmmmm
