Well, our tickets are in hand, we leave in two weeks......you know how it feels

There have been so many good recommendations for restaurants here that it is hard to keep track of them all. Let me be more specific about what we will be looking for:

We like to sample the "local" cuisine when we travel. Who serves "Bonairian" food and what is that like?

We also love seafood. Where do you get your favorite ocean dishes?

Thanks

Just about anywhere has good fish dishes. It Rains Fishes is very good.

Local cuisine: Mi Poron, Maiky Snack, Bon Awa (take out or terrace at the back), Rose Inn in Rincon. Lots of others whose names escape me right now.

Pick up the Dining Guide when you arrive. While not absolutely complete, it's pretty good and has a good list of "local" places. There are a lot of take-out "snacks" that are often very good, if only with a limited menu.

The dining guide is at the airport information kiosk. It is availabe also at the car rentals, hotels and lots of place. Another good local spot is Bon Bini Terrace/Antriol Catering. Josie, I we will have your graduation dinner there...I will talk to Benny.

Michael, you're something else. I'll count on that! I remember that you recommended Antriol Catering to us for our first trip to Bonaire. We enjoyed it a lot, but could never find it again -- and just went on to explore some many other options that we never followed up on it again. That'll be great!!

Benny tells me that he's found me the "right" instructor. He's got to make sure that he's comfortable also.... (I love it!)

Rosemary,
We liked Dock of the Bay for fish (we had a wonderful 1st meal there when we got in late - and hungry - our first night on Bonaire). It is on the grounds of Buddy Dive (is that right?), north of the downtown area. Where are you staying? We also liked It Rains Fishes, but had our best shrimp at The Terrace Restaurant and Bar(or whatever it's called) at Sand Dollar Resort. De Tuin was really good. We found Maiky Snack and had tasty goat stew there, but it took 4 times(!) of asking for directions to find it -- no street signs on the dirt roads and we just got turned and turned around. Good Luck and eat well.
