I read somewhere on a post about a new restaurant called The Lost Penguin. Is this the place Renata and her husband opened? Am curious about it, because they were in the process of purchasing it when we were in Bonaire.

I saw where this is the latest restaurant to open in Bonaire. It seems to me there has been a lot of new ones opening on Bonaire lately, or are there ones closing also. Gary

It is Renata and husband's new place. They purchased "Gobeys" while it was still running. Shut it down for about a month and reopened as The Lost Penguin.

It's right next to Julio's which is on the corner of Kaya Grandi, just where the one way ends. You follow the road down towards Cultimara, and The Lost Penguin is on the right, across from the M&C bank.

The food is wonderful!!! We've eaten there five times now in the last two weeks. Great belgian waffles with REAL raspberry sauce, and lots of other great stuff for breakfast (which they serve until 2 pm) Lunch is served from 11 am through to 8 pm when they close. I'm told the eggs benedict are to die for -- that'll be my next choice there. The nachos are terrific too!

My brother and his wife are running The Lost Penguin, I visited them in the first week of february and build a small website for them. Have a look at http://www.thelostpenguin.tk (it is still under construction).

Good start on the website, Frank.

Just one point: in the "location" section, you say "over the M&C Bank" --- It should say, "across the streeet from the M&C Bank" or ". Over would indicate to me that it's "on top of".

It's definitely a great place to try. In fact, I think I'll head there now... Just in time for lunch. Think I'll have the ribs again!!

We had several wonderful meals at the lost penguin while we were vacationing in Bonaire 2/17-2/23. It was one of our favorite places for dinner - leave room for the carrot cake!!

Melany, thanks for the recommendation, I'll try the carrot cake next time I'm here.

Had the fish and chips yesterday --- VERY nice, light beer batter, two large dorado filets, great fries, and the best cole slaw I've had in a VERY long time. (I'm going to try to get Ton's recipe for that before I leave for home, as I enjoy good cole slaw and I've never been able to make good slaw myself.)

We loved the Lost Penguin for breakfast. They had a coconut lime syrup for pancakes that was out of this world. It's a great place to get a small meal if you are in town during the middle of the day.
At home we are used to eating "breakfast " type foods in restaurants 24/7, at last we have found a place on Bonaire that serves them all day.
They do have other nice meals besides breakfasts.
The owner who is from the US was very friendly.
I really hope this little place makes it.

Got back last week ... Lost Penguin was our favourite eating place. Pity it's not open in the evenings :-(.
