I don't see many postings here regarding the Mona Lisa. My wife and I like Richards a lot especially the shrimp coctail in a conch shell, and Zeezicht (sp?) and the curry shrimp, but we especially like Mona Lisa. We'll be back in February and wonder if Mona Lisa is still in business. Sure hope so!! Like to look at all the hats too.

The Mona Lisa is a five star restaurant. The best food we had on the island this year was at Capriccio's, Mona Lisa and Beefeaters. There's a new restaurant called "It's Raining Fishes" which is exceptional also. Carol Collins

Don't forget the Kon Tiki --- it's WELL worth the drive to Lac. Actually, it seems a trek, but it takes less than 15 minutes from town. We had some truly exceptional meals there (the smoked salmon carpaccio appetizer was spectacular) We got to it on our last week there, and ate there three times, it was so good.

The Mi Poron deserves a mention. It is very different from those mentioned above - it serves mainly local food. We enjoyed last year the kabritu (goat stew) and the galiņa (chicken).

We ate at Mona Lisa and it was wonderful. It is the most consistantly good restaurant, IMHO.

We ate at Kon Tiki also....twice...it was great as well. Martin is a deliteful host and try the French Kiss coffee after dinner...YUM!!

The absolute BEST dinner we had was at the new Swiss Chalet with Jake and Linda. I had some pork tenderloin dish with mushrooms and a swiss potato side dish that reminded me of Waffle House hashbrowns, scattered, smothered! No, better really! :-) Dennis ate a tenderloin that was HUGE and Linda had this big pork chop that looked very good. All of us had left overs, there was just so much food! Don't miss the Swiss Chalet coffee for after dinner....it has these liquor soaked apricots in it that will have you giggling like a teen on your first alcoholic buzz afer you eat them! They pack quite a punch!

At first I thought, how can you give a restaurant the same name as the famous painting...when I asked the owner's about it, they told me that it wasn't like that and told me a nice story about a lady and her daughters... but when I went there for dinner, I thought, why don't you give an excellent restaurant the same as an excellent painting...the food was outstanding...

Well, add another painting related restaurant to the Bonaire dining scene - "Rembrandt". Don't know if it opened yet though. We also have an "Amadeus" for the musically inclined :-)

Amadueus is closed and is for sale. Any takers? It is in doubt if and when Rembrandts may open.

I wonder if Hans is still the cook at Monalisa. I know his food is great. Hi Hans if you ever see this. I remember not only the great food, but the wonderful time at the bar. I hope to be back there sometime soon.
