Last week we ate 3 of our 7 dinners at La Barca. Wow! Great restaurant. Great view, interesting music mix, good prices and WONDERFUL food. My wife is from NYC, so our standards for Italian food are pretty high. La Barca was as good, maybe better, than any Italian restaurant we've been to. The pasta with Mediterranean sauce with fish may be the BEST pasta dish I've ever had. Fish and fresh pasta (linguine that night)were both cooked PERFECTLY. Gnocci was also very good. My least favorite of our three meals was the lasagne bolognese, but it was still very good. My wife enjoyed the pasta Amatriciana, the linguine with shrimp, and the linguine with chicken and olives. The grilled vegetable side dish and the soups were also very good. Desserts were delicious---especially the chocolate "souffle" (more like a lava cake-mmm!). Prices were VERY reasonable. My generous glass of very drinkable Sangiovese was $5.
Service was excellent. The charming owners (he's from Italy, she's spent her whole life on Bonaire)are also the servers, and are eager to please. Can't wait to return to Bonaire to eat here again!

Mike..We ate there in Aug & suffice it to say were very impressed. It's on our dining list again in about 2 weeks time. Their gnocci was superb. The calamari as an appetizer was delish!
Unfortunately, no room for any dessert.
My wife said the owner "was adorable".Ladies?

It's on the road that runs along the waterfront, 2 blocks north of It Rains Fishes. Look for the blue & white boat (La Barca!). Open Mon.-Sat. 6:15-10 p.m.

From a lady's viewpoint, definitely "adorable." It's got to be the eyes.

If you get there when they have Bianca's (the chef) eggplant parmesan as a special, be sure to get it.

Last week I had two of the specials of the day, pumpkin soup with pumpkin ravioli, both were superb. The pumpkin ravioli was sublime.

La Barca excellent food and really worth visiting. The waiter Miguele is from Milano and he is generous. We received a Limoncella from the house after dinner. It was served ice-cold as you were in Italy.
We had dinner with a party of 4 and asked Miguele to give us 4 empty plates and let the cook prepare 4 different kinds of main courses so we could share and taste it, let the cook surprise us.
It was delicious. Try the unexpected and you will enjoy it at La Barca. It is our number 1 restaurant now.

Okay I'm confused, are there 2 La Barca's? We were told by our local friends that we HAD to try this place but were given vague directions. We found a La Barca next door to Bistro de Paris--it had a sign out front with "La Barca" but it just looked like someone's house, not a boat and certainly not with a great view. Are there 2 places with the same name or was that it?

We also saw that sign - don't think there is a restaurant there. Only one La Barca - as far as I know.

The food was delicious with a very young waiter that was trying his best to make sure we had everything we needed - he was great!

Angela..I really don't know why that sign is there. Yup, I'm sure it does create some confusion if someone doesn't know where the restaurant is located. They really ought to take it down. La Barca (The Boat)is on the seaside road.

I think the sign is there because that would be where one would turn to the oceanside if one were going to La Barca. But yes, it is confusing.

I noticed the La Barca sign next to the Bistro as well. I am not certain but I believe that the "boat" used to be located there and was moved to its present site a couple years ago. Hopefully someone can verify this.
