Had a fabulous dinner at Cactus Blue last night. I had the fresh Mahi Mahi and my husband had the fresh Barracuda and then we both had Key Lime pie. A very wonderful dinner thanks.

The key lime pie is sooooo good. Have you ever had it warm? Just heavenly.

We ate at Cactus Blue our first night in Bonaire. Good food but bad experience. My husband payed the bill but left his wallet on the table. When we got to our car we realized he left his wallet and immediately returned to the restaurant.
Our table was already cleared off and of course, no wallet and no one saw it and no one was interested in helping us find the wallet. Very disappointing. We will not return to Cactus Blue.

Just a hint.
Don't leave your wallet on the table when you leave any establishment.
I try not to do that where I live.
Leaving it there was your fault.
Glad the food was good.

Seems like the natives are happy to take your money, or anything else left unattended for even a minute. Any establishment around here the staff would be waiting for you to come back in. Seriously rethinking any trip to the island.

And the attitude of some people - that is is "your fault" - just doesn't cut it. People are either DISHONEST or HONEST. No in between.

Still glad the food was good.
I'm curious, did you confront any other patrons near your table in the restaurant upon your return?
They too were potential thieves.
Just asking...

I don't post much. Love Bonaire, have posted trip reports, etc, Okay, so have I CYA enough??
On our last trip to Bonaire, yeah we're the folks who love Coral Paradise and stay a month, we ate at Rum Runners at Captain Dons several/many times. My dear husband loves to wear shorts and it is accepted there---plus the food is great and doesn't get the rave reviews it deserves. I digress---not unusual! We paid our bill one evening, left our table, and the person cleaning our table area came running after us to hand us my husband's wallet! It had fallen out of his pocket---yeah, those shorts!

Are we returning to Bonaire? ABSOLUTELY!!!! And we can't wait! Yep, for another month of absolute wonder and relaxation! C'mon folks--"natives?????". Sorry, comment just simply does not sit well with me. I only hope you "natives" treat visitors to your area in the most courteous manner. And, that you are able to account for every person a visitor might encounter.

Sorry---this was just too much BS to let pass!

Well Mellen I had exactly the same reaction at Peter's use of the word "natives". How in god's name does he know who was born on the island?

Peter I'm glad I don't inhabit your world where everything is so black & white. Quote...

C'mon guy, really what world do you live on? Did you ever hear that there are many shades of grey?
Between honesty and duplicity is silence. And believe me, that can be a good thing.

Hijacking is my favorite thing. And you guys have laughed along...admit it.....

Eric LOVES Cactus Blue. Good food for meat eaters, which he is, and they make an effort to treat even new guys, which we were, like old friends.

Sorta back on topic. Here is great recipe for key lime pie.
It can be frozen and thawed 15 minutes before serving.
Not quite what Hagen makes, but close.
