We haven't been to Bonaire in a few years. This June's vacation will be our sixth time on the island, but we are wondering how the restaurant scene has changed.

What are your top 5 favorite restaurants in Bonaire? (if traveled to Bonaire within the last year)

Granted, I'm displaying my ignorance, but I've generally been good at that over the years. We've made many trips to Bonaire, and have never been to, nor indeed heard of, Bobbie Jans. Where is it, and what makes it so great?

Jeff everything OK now or are you still having problems.....

Bobbi jans is on the main drag going north on the left hand side just before {a block or two} pasa bon that is on the right.

Just a note, Bobbie Jans is on the main drag but the entrance is on the side street (it sits on a corner).

Well I'm not a fan of the ribs at Bobbie Jans nor at the Rib Place; but.... the rib side at Paradise Moon is yummy. Here are my picks...

Capriccio's (of course being Italian, let Lola pick the wine);)
It Rains Fishes
Mi Banana (especially the soup de jour)
Pizza at the Pizza Temple (I like thin crust)
Plazita Limena (why has no one mentioned this?? The ceviche is to die for as well as some of their pasta dishes)

Oh, Vince....I love Plazita Limena, but I couldn't remember the name when I was compiling my list. Thanks for reminding me!

Well Liz I just knew there had to be others that love that fine restaurant. I was surprised to see that no one mentioned it, hence the impetus for my posting.

We usually eat there at least twice a week.
And as I mentioned, if you are a fan of ceviche (I can understand if you're not) and like it "hot", that's the place to go. Two weeks ago I ordered what they called "ceviche" in a local restaurant in NJ and it just paled in comparison to the Peruvian style of serving it.

janet, the saturday morning only roast chicken place is the chicken lady. official name is la carnicerina latina but everybody calls her the chicken lady. i thought that was just the tourists name for her but one saturday we told our neighbor that we were going to get chicken from carnicerina latina and she asked where it was (she's lived on bonaire for at least 40 years). when we described it she said "oh yes, the chicken lady". we were told in march that she cooks 250 chickens every saturday and is open until they are gone...which is usually pretty quick.

Where can the "chicken lady" (la carnicerina latina)be found? As we will be driving around early Saturday morning after our Continental red eye touches down, we might as well stop and pick up the evening meal.

How does one cook 250 chickens in moderate succession?
The concept is a bit boggling to an ordinary person...

that's what i was told...250 chickens. she has a large rotisserie and the chickens are constantly turning and cooking. until this past march i had no idea how many she cooked but some local people told me it was 250.

to find it, take kaya industria east past lisa gas (i forget the new name) to kaya nikiboko zuid (the new traffic circle if it's done...by china nobo), turn right (south) on nikiboki zuid and drive until you see the bus stop on the left. turn on the first street on the right after the bus stop and left at the first street and it's right there. it sounds more complicated than it really is.

We've been to most of the places mentioned, all of which are good, but these are exceptionally good for the quality and following reasons...

La Guernica - Great people watching atmosphere.
capriccio - Best Italian food outside of Italy.
Bristo de Paris - Atmosphere and charming owner.
Sense - Exotic food and Euro chic atmosphere.
Tipsy Seagull - Bit pricy, but best romantic seaside dining.

(Haven't been to Will's, Bobbejans, nor Patagonia yet.)

Jerry,
Too funny I was just reading a report about buddy dive & I received your update. Try Mi Banana on your trip. It's not Richard's or It's Rain Fishes...but you won't be dissappointed. Save it for the night that you don't want to cook or just feeling like you want to relax . I had the snapper it was wonderful! I will wait for your report.

Wills Tropical Grill- Everything was delicious went several times in 2 weeks. Food is worth not having a view.

Plaza Beach Bar on Tuesday nights- Silver Bullet steel drum band was great to eat dinner to. Dinner is out in the soft sand. Can't remember the food that well, but it didn't suck and we are going to do it again.

Plazita Limena- Ceviche is fantastic! Mouth is watering just thinking about it. No view, hot (wear light clothing), but I'm still going again.

Pasa Bon Pizza- Good dinner & even better leftover for lunch the next day after a great dive.

Chibi Chibi- good food and nice view of the water and fish.

2 more- Pizza at Capt Don's is thin and yummy and a great view from there.

It Rains Fishes was yummy, but pricey. Nice view.
