We have, in the past, had a few select restaurants that we go to and return and return. This year however we have been a bit disappointed in our "usual" selections so we ventured out to discover new and delicious choices. Last year we at at Sunset, the 2nd restaurant that Kirk (of Lion's Den) oversees (or does he own - doesn't matter). We decided to eat there on Tuesday when John our favorite Photo person from Buddy's does a great presentation. We had eaten there once last year when we learned that Kirk had opened it. This year it was just as fabulous as last and we will return again before our trip is over.

Our newest and greatest find is La Barca - The Boat - we ate there tonight and can I say it was the best meal we have ever eaten on Bonaire. There were 4 of us and we each ate a different entree. The pasta dishes were served perfectly - al dente - the tuna in one of the dishes was tender and tasty. The sauce in the other was spectacular - not overpowering. The steak in the other was done to perfection (I'll order it the next time however will order it "medium" as apposed to the "medium rare" I normally order. I ordered the dorado which was done in a vodka lime sauce - It was a bit overpowering - the pieces of lime - but the fish was done perfectly.

The chef came out and we complimented him on the perfection of the meal - YES we will be back - probably a number of times.

I have been off the board for a while.
Is there any reason why Cactus Blue is never mentioned ?

A great place that I always love to go to.

We didn't make it to LaBarca this time, but will definitely do so on our next trip.
Cactus Blue is great. Only one issue....they have gotten to be very expensive. We ate there, both my husband and I had a chicken dish, one appetizer for him, each had dessert, and one drink each. $155 before tax.

I second Lisa, of all the places we ate, we felt this was expensive (4/10 to 4/24 ate at Unbelievable, D&G, Richards, Capricchio's, Rum Runner, Chibi Chibi, Papaya Moon to name a few...)

I truly feel at home at Cactus Blue. I will keep going back. I know how the bill can be jacked up by overpriced Drinks and Deserts so I treat those choices like Fire Coral ( stay away)
Then , it is not so expensive.
