What?
Where did they get that exchange rate from?--or maybe they don't want an American buyer.

I always wondered why it was considered oceanfront property when that ugly pier blocks the view. Oh well...I wish them well.

Is it really "ocean front" or is it "ocean view".
Do they actually own some of the waterfront?

It's across the street from the ocean in a harbor zone.
I'd say the ocean is a non-issue in this case; they can't put tables on a pier like Richard's does, fer instance...

The customs pier will eventually move elsewhere. The property is prime for a condo/apt. project. Part of it is leased land and part owned. With the right connections, someone could also aquire the land that is used for containers and (perish the thought) build another monstrosity to add a blight to the shoreline.

Personally, I think that many businesses see the writing on the wall, and realize that real estate is becoming prime on Bonaire. I think in the next 5 to 10 years you are going to see many more condos built in these areas.

Yes-they are open, and as far as I know, have no plans to close (other than vacation/days off). It has been on the market for awhile already. Just because a restaurant is for sale does not mean it's closing!

Understood. I am a business person myself. A business that is being sold because they are not generating enough revenue will eventually run out of cash, be unable to make payroll and pay bills and will have to close. There was no mention of why they were selling. Selling to go into retirement and selling because you're out of working capital are 2 different things. Are they selling because the value of the property has gone up and thus the rent factor? Do they own the property? It's none of my business why they're closing. I just want to know if I need to make other plans for dinner in 2 weeks. :-)

Sorry Ruth. Looking at your profile I see you must have a firm understanding of the restaurant business. :-)

I'll definitely come in and buy a few buckets of yard bird when I'm there.

No problem Andy--been here since 1990--have seen a lot. D&G has been for sale for (if memory serves) at least a year, maybe longer. I believe they just want to move on, and it has been a good time to sell, that's all. IMO, there's too much drama in the above threads. If you were going to sell, wouldn't you want to take advantage of a seller's market? Ask them yourself-you'll see them in 2+ weeks.

i have to agree as well...why do people assume that a place is closing just cause it's for sale. and in case you want to know, probably EVERY restaurant on Bon is for sale if you want to buy it...

Hey, lighten up!

I wasn't assuming anything. I just wanted to know if they were going to be there. The economy is very tough all over the world. It was not an unrealistic question IMHO.

I am a General Motors dealer. Any automobile dealership that is for sale right now is not because it's doing so well, and is very difficult to find a buyer for.

We've got reservations for 4 at 6:00. Join us if you like. It'd be fun to meet some BT'ers face to face. Or we could patronize Ruth's place. ;-)

Like Seinfeld or Oprah, when you are at your peak is a good time to "sell" D & G are one of the best and have been for years.

I'm for sale too if anyone wants to buy me and take me to Bonaire.

After staying at the Dive Inn, many times, which is right next door to Donna and Georgio's, I can testify that staying right in front of Cha Cha Beach, can be trying at times. Often, there is a lot of people, loud music, cars doing wheelies, motorcycles blasting by, and some late night partying. It is also extremely busy right there when supplies come in, with trucks, cruise ships, etc. For one, I would not want to own property right there, for vacation.

I agree with Jim, we stayed at the Shore Residence which is just a couple of houses from D&G. Sometimes it was sooo loud outside, that we couldn't understand each others words at the table. Lots of traffic, these awful loud motorcycles every night till late (is Henk Kamp planning to do anything about this?)but a wonderful view and very close to town, almost in town. Great place to stay though...
I was there just a week ago... didn't know they had selling plans, makes sense but I am very sorry. Glad I've got a CD from Harold Craan, the guitarplayer/singer who plays every Saturday. He is the best. Now I have one of the best parts (music at D&G) of Bonaire at home. :-)
check him out next Saturday!!

can anybody tell him that Marianne loves the CD?? please? thank you!!!
