Hello, everybody. We are a couple from Greece, and we're travelling to Bonaire for the first time on December 31st. We'll be on the island for New Year's eve, and three more nights. We'd really appreciate it if anyone could offer a short list of restaurant tips for our 4 dinners. Where would you dine if you only had 4 nights in Bonaire?

Nikos...Welcome...For the ambiance, I'll second Rum Runners (Capt Don's) and Patagonia. Both overlook the water.

What a fun topic. There are no local (Antillean spots on the water). Having said that my fav local spot is Rose Inn, in Rincon. It is a great lunch spot.

I would second Ralph" list except to substitute It Rains Fishes for Capriccios. Also, you may get a table at It Rains Fishes for New Years Eve but probably earlier in the evening.

Capriccios, Unbelievable, Rum Runners and Lions Den. First 2 have ocean view, last 2 on the ocean....

If you are arriving on 31 December, I would recommend that you pick a restaurant and reserve *now*.

A lot of restaurants will not serve late on December 31st, and some are even closed (resort restaurants may be open later/will not be closed). New Year's is traditionally celebrated with family/friends at home, and is the reason why many family-run, smaller non-resort restaurants will not be open, or not late anyway (Richard's would not be open late enough to see the midnight fireworks from the pier). The local's parties start around 1-2am.

We were there last week - here is our top 4 picks in order of our preference. The food at each was equal, service set them slightly apart.

Capt Don's is the place to be on NYE. If you can combine that with food you like, there's nothing better!

Thanks everyone for your tips. We made a reservation at the Rum Runners, and hope to stay there after dinner for the party :-) If anything, they were the ones who responded almost immediately to our reservation request. It Rains Fishes will be closed for New Year's Eve, but we'll be there on January 1. We'll use your other tips for the rest of our dinners on the island. Can't wait!

Thanks B. I really like a candid restaurant review. I do go to Donna & Giorgio's for the music on Friday nights.

Thanks everyone for your useful tips. We had dinner at Rum Runners on New Year's Eve, It Rains Fishes on New Year's Day, Cactus Blue on January 2, and Richard's on our last evening. They were all very good. We especially liked the Cactus Blue ambience although it's not waterside. It had the most Caribbean feel to it, and served lobster too. Rum Runners saved their best table for us, which was a treat (although they didn't have a special, end-of-year menu). It Rains Fishes probably had the best food and service of the four, and was definitely the busiest. If we had another evening in Bonaire, we'd probably try Unbelievable, it looked very nice. Well, maybe next time :-)
