Hi, I'm a new bonairetalk poster. On my first trip in 10 years.
Yep, I was here during the '99 hurricane.

Does anyone have a favorite (or where not to go) for an allyoucaneat bbq. Have fond memories of the on that was at the Green Parrot.

Alas, the green parrot is no more, washed away by the waves. What a great place that was!

Lois..Welcome to BT..The Green Parrot was one of our favorites many many years ago when we used to stay at Sand Dollar! Unfortunately now it's just a memory.
If you're big carnivores, my recommendation is the mixed grill at Casablanca. You'll have more than enough then at any all-you-can-eat BBQ.

But if you crave BBQ, give Bobbe Jan's a try. Inexpensive, nice people, decent size portions(not all you can eat though)and tasty! Mostly take-away, a few tables to sit. It gets very crowded though!

Another thought would be Patagonia

Just FYI, the all-you-can-eat at Patagonia was only a low season special. They are back to the regular menu now Tuesdays through Sundays (closed Mondays). We'll have to wait for the next low season for it to (maybe) return.

Lois, welcome to Bonaire Talk. There's also the allyoucaneatbbq at the Windsurf Place on Wednesdays (unless they aren't doing it anymore, someone correct me).

Also, Wannadive does an allyoucaneatbbq on Thursday nights. 5pm-6.30pm: Free rumpunch & snacks. 6.30pm-...: All you can eat BBQ for only Nafl.15,- Call 717-8850 and sign up.

Hi Lois,
I agree with Michael with the Divi. It's fantastic and quite honestly some of the best ribs we've ever eaten. They do a great job there with a good selection of food. Just be sure to make reservations early as it does get crowded. We haven't tried Bobby Jans yet but we will in Feb as everywhere on BT there's nothing but good reviews:-)

Eddie's at Sand Dollar has an All you can eat BBQ one night a week. I haven't tried it, but I have had the tenderloin steak several times, it is fantastic. It costs between Naf 18.50 - 25.00, which is $11 - $15. My husband has also order fresh tuna, they cook the whole thing and bring it to you with the head and tail still on. My 20 year old house is getting a makeover, so I haven't had a kitchen since mid September and looks like it will be awhile before I do have a kitchen so Eddie's gets my vote for steak, Bobbyjeans and Rib Factory for ribs, Cactus Blue for special occasions, Master Grill (Op = Op) for chicken with yummy potato salad with beets and City Cafe for crab soup which is more like a crab bisque.

But back to the question, Eddie's does have an all you can eat BBQ night and I heard it was good.

Appreciate all your ideas. Went to Bobbyjeans and agree that's its good, plentiful food with nice people. Ate there and it wasn't crowded but watch out for no-see-ums.

Someone I talked to here mentioned Captain Don's for allyoucaneat but none of you have mentioned it. Not good?

I've never been to Captain Don's but if I had to venture a guess it's probably very good. It seems like the islands know how to do a pretty good BBQ:-)

Lois, I think things have changed at Bobby Jans in 10 years. They are only open Friday night, Sat, and Sunday. Friday and Saturday nights they are packed, usually a wait unless you get there when they open at 5pm. You are right about the bugs, I usually take wipes and wipe my legs down halfway through dinner...lol..

Tink, think they open at 6pm, Bobbe Jans.

Bobbejans is busy on friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. The doors open at 6pm. You can make resevations if you like. Very good food, and a good atmosphere for Bonaire out side eatery... Ron

For "allyoucaneat bbq" I would vote for Buddy Dive. The best I have tried. Did Habitat and it is not as good IMHO. I think Buddy's BBQ is Friday night after Rum Punch night with Moogie. Last month it was something like $25 and well worth it.

My vote goes to the allyoucaneat BBQ at Capt Don's (RumRunners)on Monday nights (I believe)

Went to Cap't Dons. One of my group wanted fish and this was the only one that guaranteed fish. Was very good but pricey. $25. Ribs excellent. Sauces unique (peppercorn, cajun, satay) for bbq. Rum punch before good and potent.

Sometimes you have to wait while they cook up more but makes everything fresh off the grill.
