I see that Cactus Blue is on the market.

It seems as though there are a few going that way.

Wow..Unfortunate..The restaurant biz on Bonaire is EXTREMELY competitive.

Wow - I really enjoyed that place. Anyone know what happened? They were always full of customers when I was there.

I think the real question is...

are they closing or just putting the business up for sale?

Was told by friends that were on the island recently that Corine and Hagen had separated, so that may be the reason.

I'm sorry to hear about Cactus Blue being sold, but if the reason is that Corine and Hagen have separated, I'm even more sorry about that.
I wish them both the best.

They were so nice when we were there in March - This was Jans favorite place... I wish them the best no matter what.

Oh, this just breaks my heart! Only 2 weeks ago did I make my reservation, Table for One, for New Year's Eve. They are such fine people with a great family. I am SO sorry and will miss C.B., and Corrina and Hagen, should all of this move down the track.....I wish them all the best..

Steve - We'll see you in Bonaire - we'll be there for New Year's too - hurray....but sad about Cactus Blue. Now they may continue to stay open until it sells. We'll just keep on watching the threads...

That's terrible, both if they have separated (they are a great couple) and if the restaurant is closing. That was by far our favorite and visited it at least 3 or 4 times out of the possible 10 or so dinners we had every time were were on Bonaire!

Let's not get too carried away here...just because a restaurant is for sale does not mean that it's closing; it most likely means that there will be new owners (eventually; it's still Bonaire--not much happens overnight here!).

TYR

I think most folks would be surprised at the number of restaurants on the island that are for sale...

Wow! Did not know. May have a whole new market from which to choose by the end of December (my next trip). I recall my last visit there when two of my first choices were closed over the Christmas/New Years weeks -- Mona Lisa and Donna & Georgio's (the latter of which I had never patronized but WANTED to because of such good reviews on BT!). Will need to keep my ear to the ground on this one.

Steve, those 2 restaurants closed only for vacation. They're not closed-closed. In recent years, Mona Lisa always closes over the Christmas holidays, plus a couple of weeks during the summer school vacation time; D&G closes for some vacay too, as you found out. Many restaurants are owner-operated, so the only way to get vacation time is to close.

Ruth --

Thanks for the clarification.

Indeed I did know that it was vacation-closure for both. It's just that it is those weeks that I am ALWAYS on the island. Bummer! If they keep closing for vacation, I may never be able to eat there again!

Dear All,

Please remember that Bonaire Talk is NOT always factual and as a result can affect a business as well as a family on a small island.

sunny wishes Hagen & Corinna

Sincere apologies Hagen and Corinna did not mean to cause offense, I should have remembered what my mother told me about gossip, "DON'T listen to it and don't spread it!, and engaged my brain before typing. once again sincere apologies to you both.

Nice message Tim. Thanks!

And my apologies to Corinna for misspelling her name. I'll get it right sooner or later. Maybe one of those Cactus Blue Martinis will straighten me out! :o)

Oh I am so glad it was only a vicious rumor. I don't know what the 4 of us would do without our Cactus Blue visits. April is a long way off (too long as far as I am concerned) but we look forward to seeing Hagen & Corinna again.

BTW - Hagen how did you son do in the competition in Europe?
