Hello Fred,

I am not sure I am allowed to explain this because of the rules but I will just try and see if it is allowed.
I work for a company on Bonaire that rents out apartments and villa's. We now have a special that if you book an apartment for 1 week. We include 5x free breakfast at restaurant it rains fishes or at Boudoir.
And Ron made this reservation so he will get his free breakfast at on of these great places.

You are right Dennis. that is about as far as you can go without actually breaking the rules, only because someone asked....

I have eaten there and the food is good. The establishment that was there before also had good food (what happened to it)? Just out of curiosity Dennis, are you related to the owner of the new restaurant?

How come anytime anyone says anything nice about a restaurant, they have to be related or work there? You know.. sometimes, people can be nice with no ulterior motive....

You're absolutely right Island Girl. I also gave the restaurant a thumbs up. I ate there several times and felt that the food was very good. I have no affiliation to Boudoir and wanted others to know about my positive experience. My only question to Dennis was, if the owner of Boudoir was related to him. It was just a question with nothing meant or implied.

In the most recent cases of first time posters, there was in fact a connection to management, however, the postings were factual and did deserve to be read. It is difficult for me as editor of the dining guide to post a comment as well. Island Girl, I can honestly post that I have not been to dinner as yet at Paradise Moon, but have sent folks to you and heard only the best reports.

I just wondered why every time someone says something nice about any restaurant, they are always questioned as to thier association. But when someone slams a restaurant, nothing is said. I have been to Boudoir, and the poster was correct. The food was good, as was the service. I wasn't bringing up my restaurant at all. My question only related to MadMans questioning of the post.

That is because it was the first post ever and it sounded like an advertisement for the restaurant. If it was someone who had at least a few post's then maybe it woudn't show on the radar.

Perhaps the question of 'relationship' comes up so often because of just this happening so often, favorable posters being related. (It is rather rare that a relation will slam a business in public.) All the rules here ask from posters is full honesty.

I don't see the problem.

I don't work there. I just said it was a nice place and that the food is good.
Yes she is my wife. (lucky me)
I just don't see the problem.
Everybody that lives on Bonaire probarbly knows each other.

dennis, this controversy could have been avoided had you started your first post by saying "i just had lunch at my wife's new place, boudoir" instead of acting like you were a stranger who had discovered a new restaurant. as it was, it did sound like an advertisement for the restaurant...now, seeing your relationship to the owner, we can only conclude that it was. nicer to be above-board from the start.

well you are correct on that one.

Let's just say that I do think in Dutch and translate to English.
would English be my maiden language this probably would not have happened.
Sorry if I have misled any one this certainly was not my intention.

If BT had a board called Shameless Promotion or Travel Marketplace, business owners such as myself could self promote. We all would love to plug our business but BT has set rules about this. Trip Advisor also does not allow self promotion. The Antigua forum has a Shameless Promtion spot and Scubaboard has the Travel Marketplace. I suggested this years back...

Thanks moderators..

I think a Marketplace section is a good idea. Perhaps in return for the publicity, specials and discounts can be offered to Bonaire Talkers...
