New to BT here. Me and my girlfriend will be arriving in Bonaire next Saturday the 7th! We cannot wait. I have done some searches, but would like some good recommendations. What are the "beachiest" bars and restaurants on the island? Sand floors...on the beach...island vibe...etc?

Bonaire does not have a lot of beaches. There are several resturants that are on piers over the water or across the street from the water. There is a beach bar at the Plaza resort and I think they have a minimal menu. There is a resturant at Eden Beach resort that is on the beach. I can't think of another one right now. Maybe others will think of some place else.

Andy

Peter..Welcome to BT..For a "beach bar" I'd head over to the windsurf place on Lac Bay.
Enjoy!! :-)

The Hang Out bar at Jibe City on Lac Bay is also great with good food and is sandy.

Thank you for your help so far. Through my research, I have seen that there aren't many beaches on the island. I guess I put beach in quotations cause that's the vibe I was looking for. Man I can't wait to get down there!

Buddy's bar has a sand floor and overlooks the water. It's just 15' or so higher than sea level. Has the beach bar atmosphere.

Lac Bay is definitely the most "beachy" experience on Bonaire. We can kill hours there on our offgas day just digging our toes in the white sand, drinking Polars, catching rays and watching the windsurfers.

Can't wait to get back there....T-26 days and counting.....woo hoo!

Which restaurant at Lac Bay has the good hamburgers? The original beach bar or the newer one.

I think the definition of "beach" bar depends upon your age and where you originate in the States. The beach bars I'm used to are at the southern Jersey shore and in the lower Keys.

When I was younger, say 20-35, you'd find me at a place like Karel's, or Little Havana in Kralendijk. Now, as part of the over 50 crowd I prefer a bar like Richard's.

You'll just have to go on a pub crawl once you hit the island.

Dan.

The diving and snorkeling is mostly on the Caribbean side (west) and Lac Bay and the sand beach are on the Atlantic side (east).

Last year, we were in Bonaire the night of the Superbowl - and went to the bar at the end of pier on the Caribbean side (in the main town). It was a fun spot!
